Drew Barrymore Reflects On Her 'Hedonistic' And 'Immature' Love Affair With Ex Justin Long

Actress and talk show host, Drew Barrymore, recently had her ex-boyfriend, Justin Long, on the premiere of her self-titled show. The duo dated in 2007 for three years before breaking up. They also starred in "He's Just Not That Into You" together in 2009 and "Going The Distance" in 2010.

Since splitting, the actress married and then divorced Will Kopelman in 2016. Barrymore remained single since then and is currently the single mother to two children, nine-year-old Olive and eight-year-old Frankie, from the marriage. Long on his part is dating his Kate Bosworth, and has been since 2021.

Long recently joined Barrymore on her show, and the duo reflected on their previous relationship. According to the "Charlie's Angels" star, they had a lot of fun together and were more "hedonistic" and "a little more immature" at the time.

The most recent episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show" saw the actress and her ex-boyfriend, Long, reunite in the tearful season three premiere. When the 44-year-old walked in, Barrymore embraced him before the former lovers sat down to reminisce over their time together over a decade ago.

The show host said per Mail Online, "I will always love you so much. You were so important to me. I really am; I'm really grateful. I feel like we've been through so much together." After dating on and off between 2007 and 2010, the former couple reportedly remained on good terms with each other and kept in contact.

"When we used to talk and FaceTime, I was always like, 'You know, I've really grown up, Justin.' I always wanted to prove to you what a different person I was than when we dated," she said. Long in response, described the actress as "the best." The actor claimed that laughter was what linked them together and was something they enjoyed doing "at all times."

For the reunion, the "Blended" star had on a stylish cream suit paired with high platform heels, while Long wore a checked long-sleeve shirt on khaki trousers along with white trainers. The September 12 show was the premiere of season three of Barrymore's self-titled talk show.

While talking, the actress said that she would always love Long and was happy they maintained their relationship over the years. She said, "I love that we maintained our love because I know for my end it will never go away. I love you always. I am glad that we are able to still have that. I mean that. I'll always love you."

According to the 47-year-old, while they had "so much fun" when they were together, they were "more hedonistic." She said, "We had so much fun, but we were more hedonistic. A little more immature. We would get together; we would break up. It was chaos; it was hella-fun." Long added, "Fun chaos, well yeah, most hedonism is fun."

Before the recent interview, Barrymore revealed that she would have Long on set for the premiere, and the duo would reminisce on old times. "We talk about the good times," the 47-year-old teased. "We honor his partner, and it's just personal."

Since moving on from Barrymore, Long started dating "Blue Crush" actress Kate Bosworth in 2021. While talking about his current relationship, Barrymore revealed that she "could not be happier" for him and that all she wanted was for the director to be happy and succeed in life. She said, "It's true, and I'm so happy that you are in this also amazing relationship. I'm just so happy because you deserve to be happy. I'm so thrilled for you."

Long on his part, revealed that Bosworth really liked Barrymore and the 47-year-old would "love" it if they spent time together. "She does all those things," the actor revealed. "And she adores you. She is the most supportive, most wonderful. You would love hanging out with her. We'll all go out together."

Barrymore and Long first started dating in 2007 and then split in 2008. They got back together in 2009 after acting together in "He's Just Not That Into You" and were paired together during "Going The Distance" a year later. The former couple called their relationship off for the last time that year.

According to Us Weekly, while on the "A Little Bit Extra" podcast with Mike Birbiglia in May, the actress revealed that she thought Long's humor was one of the major reasons the actor "gets all the ladies." "You want to know why [Justin] gets all the ladies? Well, there's a few reasons, but the comedy is definitely [one of them]," she said.

Barrymore continued, "He is one of the sharpest, wittiest [people], he's brilliant, and he'll just knock your socks off with laughter. We dated for many years; I was very much in love with Justin, you know why? Because he's funny."
