Breaking Bad has made a cultural impact that seemingly remains unmatched; to this day fans continue to follow the show’s legacy, and it’s spin-off series Better Call Saul. With an amazing cast including, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, and many others, it’s no wonder the show was able to amass such a following. Among these stars was Robert Forster, which appeared in season 5 of Breaking Bad. Sadly, Forster passed away from brain cancer late last year (October, 2019).
Last night, Better Call Saul’s fifth season kicked off with a bang, and along with it, came one last performance for the late actor. Robert Forster, or better known as Ed in the series, made one final appearance as the witty, yet effective “Disappearer”. It truly is special seeing Forster on the screen one last time as such a strong character like Ed. As the credits rolled at the end of the episode the crew made one last dedication to the actor in a sweet end credit.
Fans of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul alike, were saddened, but also incredibly shocked by the late actors appearance. One fan said “Oh man I loved seeing Robert Forster in #BetterCallSaul tonight. Jackie Brown is one of my favorite movies, and it’s almost all because of him. May he continue to RIP.”
While another fan spoke about the actor/character’s link to the series, “Love how now it’s Robert Forster who ties the three main Breaking Bad experiences together. He was in BB, he was in Jesse’s movie, and now he gets a quick look in on Saul’s life. What a legend.”

In relation to the show Robert Forster’s character, Ed, played such a vital role near the end of Breaking Bad, and the simple implications of the character being teased in the season premiere of Better Call Saul says a lot about how the two shows will inevitably begin to come together, and who knows, as time continues we may begin to see more and more characters from Breaking Bad. With this being said, it is sad to think that this may be the last time we ever see Robert Forster on screen.
Robert Forster’s career spanned over 40 years, and his legacy is unmistakable. To quote his co-star Bryan Cranston (which played the lead character, Walter White, in Breaking Bad) “I’m saddened today by the news that Robert Forster has passed away. A lovely man and a consummate actor. I met him on the movie Alligator (pic) 40 years ago, and then again on BB. I never forgot how kind and generous he was to a young kid just starting out in Hollywood. RIP Bob.”
