A medical examiner has ruled the cause of death of the late 41-year-old "Pop Idol" star Darius Campbell Danesh who was found unconscious in his US apartment on August 11. His death was confirmed and announced by his family.

After a two-month long waiting period, it has finally been revealed that the “West End” star died from inhaling ethyl chloride. The singer suffocated to death shortly after breathing in the anesthetic drug.

While ethyl chloride, also known as chloroethane, is usually used recreationally, the Southern Minnesota Regional hospital revealed that there were “toxic effects” that could cause “suffocation.” After the announcement by the medical examiner, some fans wondered whether the inhalation was a mistake or not.

According to Mail Online, after the autopsy document was released, the examiner’s office confirmed that the singer’s death was an accident. This went in line with Danesh’s family’s previous statement, which noted that the police found “no signs of malicious intent or suspicious circumstances.”

The star lived in a recently built apartment block in Bergman apartments, Rochester. Residents recommend the barely two-year-old building for both long and short-term furnished living.

The investigation also revealed that most people who lived in the apartment block either worked or received treatment at the Mayo Clinic’s Saint Marys Campus, opposite the building. However, it is unknown whether Danesh was being treated at the clinic before his death.

The medical facility, which opened in 1889, has 70 operating rooms, ten intensive care units, and 1,265 beds and specializes in cardiac treatment, transplants, psychiatry, neurosurgery, and rehabilitation.

He Died In The Apartment

As per Mail Online, the Rochester Police Department revealed that they received a call from the apartment as soon as the actor was found unconscious. They responded to the “deceased person” phone call around 11:30 am. It was later confirmed that the unresponsive resident was Danesh.

Another call was placed to the “medical” team after they suspected that the singer was dead. The apartment later called them back and asked them not to worry, as they planned to wait for the police to arrive at the possible death scene.

Fans were shocked when his death was confirmed, as Dinesh was just a few weeks away from attending a reunion event with his former co-stars from the pop idol.

Sources close to the star revealed how “excited” he was to attend the upcoming event before he passed away. He would have had the chance to meet fellow pop stars like Adam Lambert, who collaborated with the renowned British band Queen for a long time.

It was also scheduled to be held at the Criterion Theatre in London per The Sun. While awaiting the toxicology reports, the police previously confirmed that there was no intent to cause any harm to the singer, whether by himself or someone else.

Following the statement from Danesh’s family confirming his death, his ex-wife Natasha Henstridge who he previously lived with in the US, wrote a tribute to him. “There are no words Darius… only Love Love Love. Forever Janam.” Friends of the “Colourblind” singer also paid tributes to him on social media.

Celebrities Paid Tribute To The Late Pop Idol Star

After announcing his death, his family also asked fans to give them some privacy to “come to terms with the tragic loss.” Following this, celebrities like Anne Ferguson and Pete Waterman wrote tributes to honor him.

Ferguson, the wife of his hairdresser Taylor Ferguson, expressed her sadness for his death. According to Mail Online she said, “no words” could describe how shocked she was to hear the news. “It’s just so awful. There are no words. I cannot describe how sad I feel,” she explained.

Waterman seized the moment to pay tribute to the “Incredible” star In his last appearance on "Good Morning Britain". When asked about their relationship, he described Danesh as “the perfect person” and explained that they first met on "Pop Idol."

He also explained that the singer was kind, gentle, and very talented. “Darius wanted to do too much. He had too much talent,” he said. He also compared the late singer’s talent to that of the renowned pop star Michael Bublé.
