Ariel Winter has played the smart and sassy Alex Dunphy on the hit show “Modern Family” for over a decade and on Friday, it was time to say goodbye. The 22-year-old actress had her camera handy for the last day of shooting and fans watched as she snapped her final photo on the studio lot, outside the trailer that she’s had for a decade. In the pic, Ariel Winter was not in character. Instead, she was sporting a smile with her brown hair down as she gazed into the camera for the last shot.
Wearing a casual black long-sleeved shirt, the “Modern Family” star posed on the stairs of her trailer on Friday. Showing her plaque reading “Alex” on the door, the actress’s caption made it seem like she can’t believe it has finally come to an end. “In just a few hours we will series wrap on @abcmodernfam, and along with everything else, I will be saying goodbye to the trailer I have had for almost a decade,” she wrote. “Goodbye trailer! Goodbye Alex plaque!” she added including a crying emoji and the hashtags like “Modern Family,” “Memories,” “Family,” and “Farewell.”
Fans immediately began flooding Ariel Winter’s post with comments about their disbelief that they have to say goodbye to her iconic character. “I’m so sad the show is ending. alex was my favorite character and she will always have a special place in my heart ?,” one person wrote. “This chapter is ending but the story is just getting started,” encouraged another. Actress Adrienne Frantz commented, “So proud of you honey! One door closes another one opens! Love you baby girl!” Ariel Winter wasn’t the only “Modern Family” star who documented their last day on set.

After 11 seasons and 22 Emmys wins, fans will say goodbye to their beloved “Modern Family” come September 25 when the final season airs on ABC.
