Duchess Of York Sarah Ferguson Shares Touching Tribute to Late Queen Elizabeth II

Sarah Ferguson, who was married to Queen Elizabeth II's son Prince Andrew for ten years, is heartbroken.

News of the matriarch of the royal family hit the headlines on September 8, putting the United Kingdom and the entire world into mourning. The Queen's passing seems to have hit the Duchess of York significantly. She took to social media to say a few things.

The "Good Morning Britain" guest shared a profoundly emotional tribute to her late mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth who had just passed at the age of 96. After the Queen's death news, Sarah posted a message on her Twitter page writing, "I am heartbroken by the passing of Her Majesty the Queen."

The 62-year-old went on to mention that the late monarch was leaving behind a great legacy, which she described as "the most fantastic example of duty and service and steadfastness, and a constant steadying presence as our head of state for more than 70 years."

After she divorced the Duke of York in 1996, she became the object of media scrutiny as a result of her role in royal scandals over the years; Fergie seemed to recall this in another tweet calling the Queen an incredible mother-in-law and friend.

She thanked her for standing by her throughout the trying period and after the divorce, at the same time, praised the late Queen for her devotion to the people under her charge. Sarah, who still lives at the Royal Lodge in Windsor with her ex-husband Prince Andrew, ended her tributes by affirming that she would "miss her more than words can express."

Upon the confirmation of the late monarch's death, her eldest son Charles became King shortly after King Charles III issued the first statement, as reported by The Blast. "The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family," the statement began.

It continued with The King stating that while their immediate family would mourn her greatly, he knows that her passing will be felt deeply throughout the world. The statement ended by mentioning that during the mourning period, they would be significantly comforted knowing how deeply respected the late sovereign was by the world.

Before the statement, The Royal Family also shared a black-and-white photo of the late Queen on their social media page, revealing that she had passed away at the age of 96. "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon," the message read. They shared that the King and Queen Consort would remain at Balmoral before returning to London the next day.

It was also reported that other royal family members like Prince William and Prince Harry rushed to be by the late Queen in her final moments.

The Blast reported that moments before the Queen's passing, a rare sighting seemed to bring some level of comfort to mourners. Several people have taken to posting the sight of a rainbow seen in the sky shortly before the death was announced.

Royal photographer Chris Jackson seems to be part of the many who saw significance in the sighting. Sharing a photo, he added to the picture by describing how while the flag was being lowered at half mast over Windsor Castle, a rainbow appeared for a few moments and disappeared. 

Another post worth mentioning was Andy Lines, Daily Mirror Chief Reporter, who also shared a brief clip of the rainbow over Buckingham Palace. It seemed like the rainbow did not only appear near the castle as Political editor Claire Ellicott also caught a glimpse of the rainbow. She shared the image of what seemed to be a double rainbow that appeared over the Thames.

Twitter users also confirmed the reported sightings, with one saying that she witnessed three sightings at Balmoral, Windsor Castle, and over Buckingham Palace. Comments from users showed them taking comfort in seeing the rainbows, adding that they felt like the late Queen was sending them a message that all would be well.
