In October of last year R&B legend Monica finalized her divorce with former NBA star, Shannon Brown. This was done at a court in Fayetteville, Georgia. She also removed Brown as her last name and returned to her maiden name. This is almost after 10 years of marriage as they tied the knot back in 2010. Monica originally started the divorce process in March 2019. The two have a five-year-old daughter together named Laiyah Shannon. Monica has two other sons while Brown has another son from a different relationship.

Now, it may appear that Brown could be open to the possibility of trying to get what they once had back. This is after Monica has looked like she's been living her best life since the divorce was finalized where she smiled while leaving the courtroom. The former Los Angeles Laker has posted photos of Monica and the kids since December of last year. He might simply miss what he had and could put in the work to get that marriage back.

Brown also appeared on 107.5 WGCI and he discussed his thoughts on reconciling with Monica.

“Man, that’s like…she like my forever valentine. See, I’m going to get sentimental again,” he said. “She’s just a huge part of how I think about love, I guess. She show love, I try to show it back. “I mean you know, I think it’s a little pavement that I can get into.”

Since the divorce process, Monica has maintained her stance that the two are done for good.

Monica expressed how the divorce took a tool on her emotionally though last year during the new season of 'T.I. and Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle.' She explained how she didn't want to be single with three children at the age of 38. Once news broke of her filing for divorce, she received support from many notable figures in the music industry such as T.I.'s wife Tiny and Lil Wayne's ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Toya Wright. At the same time, Monica was dealing with problems with her foot that would've affected her concerts.

Monica and Shannon's marriage originally took place at a private wedding in November of 2010. They didn't end up confirming their marriage until a year later. Monica has released eight studio albums in her career with her biggest hit being 'The Boy Is Mine' featuring Brandy. This was also the title of her second album which was also released in the same year in 1998. Shannon spent 12 seasons in the NBA where he won two championships with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010.
