On Thursday afternoon, Queen Elizabeth IIpassed away at age 96 around 1:30 PM ET on September 8, 2022.

“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon," read a statement released by The Royal Family. "The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

Many celebrities and famous faces in Hollywood took to social media to mourn the loss of Her Majesty the Queen.

Paris Hilton Calls Queen Elizabeth II 'The Original Girl Boss'

Paris Hilton was one of the first to mourn her passing, tweeting, "The original girl boss. One of the most inspirational women. The end of an era. ? RIP ? ."

Sir Elton John released a lengthy statement on social media. “Along with the rest of the nation, I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s passing,” it read. “She was an inspiring presence to be around and led the country through some of our greatest and darkest moments with grace, decency, and a genuine caring warmth.”

“Queen Elizabeth has been a huge part of my life from childhood to this day, and I will miss her dearly,” he added.

Ozzy Ozbourne Mourns The 'Devastating' Loss Of 'Our Greatest Queen'

Musician Ozzy Osbourne shared a photo of a much younger Queen, tweeting, "I mourn with my country the passing of our greatest Queen. With a heavy heart I say it is devastating the thought of England without Queen Elizabeth II."

"Star Trek" actor George Takei tweeted, "Queen Elizabeth II has passed away at age 96. My thoughts are with the royal family and with the people of the United Kingdom and truly around the world who mourn her passing. In her time, the Queen saw a country and indeed a world transformed. There shall be none other like her."

Actress Melissa Rivers, daughter of Joan Rivers, tweeted a quote from the Queen, reading, “When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future.”

'Her Majesty’s was a reign without equal'

Singer Ciara tweeted out a short statement, reading, "Rest In Paradise to The Queen ❤️."

Melinda French Gates, the ex-wife of Bill Gates, tweeted, "Spanning nearly three-quarters of a century—and a world transformed many times over—Her Majesty’s was a reign without equal. I will cherish the kindnesses that Queen Elizabeth II extended to our family and the remarkable leadership, resilience, and example she showed us all."

“Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling tweeted, “Some may find the outpouring of British shock and grief at this moment quaint or odd, but millions felt affection and respect for the woman who uncomplainingly filled her constitutional role for seventy years.”

“Most British people have never known another monarch, so she’s been a thread winding through all our lives,” she continued. “She did her duty by the country right up until her dying hours, and became an enduring, positive symbol of Britain all over the world. She’s earned her rest. #TheQueen.”

Even Paddington Bear Remembers Queen Elizabeth II

Finally, Paddington Bear, who recently celebrated the Platinum Jubilee with the Queen in June, tweeted, "Thank you Ma’am, for everything."
