Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski is spilling the tea on single life and the “male gaze.”
Weeks after splitting from her ex-husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard, Ratajkowski shared a number of TikToks concerning her outlook on love as a recently single mother of one. The model and Bear-McClard called it quits in July amid claims that the film producer cheated on her.
The former couple married for four years and had a child two years into their marriage. Since breaking off her marriage, Ratajkowski has been more active on social media, TikTok in particular, and has posted several videos in the past few weeks.
The 31-year-old’s most recent videos are centered on her perspective on love “as a recently single person.” Ratajkowski shed light on how love was hard to achieve in a world ruled by patriarchy, especially amongst “cis-hetero relationships.”

Emily Ratajkowski Revealed Her Perspective On Love
Divorced model Ratajkowski took to TikTok recently to shed light on her thoughts on how a patriarchal society impacts sex and relationships. In her video posted on September 6, she reacted to a clip by psychotherapist Esther Perel. There Perel spoke on “the secret of female sexuality” and said, “If she can think about herself, then she can be into it.”
The 31-year-old concurred with the video claiming that most women concern themselves with how they look during sex because they internalize “the male gaze.” Ratajkowski said, “This is so true, and it’s because women have internalized the male gaze so much that when we’re having sex, we’re thinking about how hot or not we are.”
She revealed that she got videos like this on her feed often and her overall interest in related topics. The model concluded the clip with, “It’s kind of crazy that women are so used to seeing women sexualized and sexualizing themselves that we’re thinking of being sexualized during sex for lack of a better way of putting it.”
Emily Ratajkowski Said Sexism Impacts Relationships
In an earlier video, Ratajkowski once again spoke about relationships and shed light on how sexism and patriarchy affected relationships. In the video posted on September 5, she explained that she recently got a new outlook due to her single status and has seen instances like that with her friends.
At the start of the stitch with @thegardeningtheologian, the 31-year-old talked about the similarity of the point made by the TikTok user and a comment by the renowned author Bell Hooks. Ratajkowski continued, “Under a patriarchy, there’s this premise of men’ getting women,’ ‘getting them,’ ‘pulling them’ like there’s something to possess.”
The mother of one said, “As a recently single person who is thinking about dating and stuff, I’ve really seen that with my friends and with the conversations around it.”
Ratajkowski further explained that those conversations should be centered on building a “reciprocal mutual relationship” in which the participants can foster love. “That’s why we don’t have a lot of love in cis-hetero relationships,” the 31-year-old concluded.
Emily Ratajkowski And Sebastian Bear-McClard Split Up In July
Four years after their February 2018 wedding Ratajkowski and her ex-husband Bear-McClard parted ways. The model reportedly wanted the split, which took place in July, and moved out of their Los Angeles home shortly after.
A source previously spoke to People Magazine about the breakup, revealing that the 31-year-old was doing fine. They said, “They split recently. It was Em’s decision. She is doing okay. She is strong and focused on her son. She loves being a mom.”
Speculation concerning the split started earlier in July when the mother of one was seen in public without her wedding ring. The ring was also noticeably absent from Ratajkowski’s Instagram pictures during that period.
