Meghan Markle seems to never not be under fire for something. Critics are frequently finding reasons to tear into the former Suits actor. They have questioned her motives for marrying Prince Harry as well as her motives for moving with him to Canada. She was watched very closely while pregnant and is constantly maligned for her every move.
Now it seems the Duchess of Sussex is being attacked for her guest-editing gig with Vogue magazine. People are surprisingly upset over the collaboration.
Duchess Meghan is being scrutinized for her spot as a guest-editor for Vogue last year. Though such a gig shouldn’t seem to be so controversial, it apparently struck a nerve for a lot of people.
Meghan was accused of working with a magazine that promotes unhealthy body image to women and girls. The magazine was also accused of using “hungry models” in their photoshoots. Some complained about a recently published behind-the-scenes video of Meghan and Editor in Chief Edward Enninful calling it “_self-serving.”
This isn’t the first time one of Meghan’s collaborations has come under fire. The Duchess of Sussex has been heavily criticized for her upcoming deal to provide voiceover work for Disney.
Some have accused Meghan of taking the deal — which will be used to donate her salary to an anti-poaching organization — to try to revive her Hollywood career. Others looked down on the way she landed the gig … by Prince Harry just sort of asking Disney boss Bob Iger to give his wife a shot.
Perhaps some of the worst insults hurled at Duchess Meghan are those that insinuated she married Prince Harry to further her fame and fortune and that she always intended to destroy the Royal Family from within.
People who have held this belief are now seeing Harry and Meghan’s decision to move to Canada as evidence of their theories. They have been airing their disapproval over the internet, blaming Meghan for taking Harry away from Buckingham Palace so she can become an actor again.
Of course, Prince Harry absolutely disagrees with these critics. He maintains that the decision to move to Canada was made largely with his input. The Duke of Sussex has admitted to feeling forced into the move due to the British press.
Prince Harry has long been a detractor of the British media, feeling as though the system was a cause of his mother — Princess Diana’s — death in a car accident. He said he could see similarities between Diana and Meghan and wanted to protect his family.
