Catch Me Up, Darling: What's Happened On The 'Don't Worry Darling' Set?

In late August following a Variety profile written about the film's director Olivia Wilde, actor Shia LeBeouf followed up with the outlet, dropping a bombshell that contradicted Wilde's statement he had been fired from the production.

LeBeouf sent an email to Variety wherein he shared his side of the story. He also sent the publication screenshots of his 2020 text thread with Wilde.

Speaking about LeBeouf's alleged firing from the film Wilde said, "I say this as someone who is such an admirer of his work, his process was not conducive to the ethos I demand in my productions. He has a process that, in some ways, seems to require combative energy, and I don't personally believe that is conducive to the best performances," she began, "I believe that creating a safe, trusting environment is the best way to get people to do their best work. Ultimately, my responsibility is to the production and to the cast to protect them. That was my job," Wilde concluded.

Following LeBeouf's departure from the film, of which he maintains he left on his own accord, Wilde had sent him a video in which she attempted to pursue LeBeouf to reconsider his decision. Wilde's message had been filmed two days after LeBeouf's departure. (per The Blast)

"I feel like I'm not ready to give up on this yet," she began in her message, "and I, too, am heartbroken and I want to figure this out..."

Wilde and the film's lead actress, Florence Pugh, allegedly did not see eye-to-eye on set as well.

Pugh kept her distance from Wilde at the Venice Film Festival over the weekend. According to one of our reports, Pugh and Wilde did not speak to one another during the event and they remained far apart in any photos.

What About Harry Styles And Chris Pine?

The alleged strife between Wilde and Pugh turned out not to be the only pair reportedly on edge with one another on set.

The internet's collective radar went off after footage of lead actor Harry Styles allegedly spitting on Chris Pine's foot while returning to his seat at the festival, began circulating on social media.

Pine can be seen looking at his feet right before Styles takes his seat, and Wilde's facial expression visibly changes.

Twitter exploded with reactions to the footage which had been preserved in gifs. Not only did fans watch the gif on a continuous loop, but they also surveyed the clip from a different angle!

Pine, 42, and his representative were NOT pleased with the rumors surrounding what social media had since dubbed "spitgate."

His representatives issued a statement earlier today which read, "This is a ridiculous story- a complete fabrication of and a result of an online allusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation," it began. "Just to be clear Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that doesn't exist." Social Media Weighs In

Users keeping tabs on the situation on 'the bird app' reacted to the statement. Some fans were skeptical surrounding its validity.

Twitter user @StepheniePears wrote, "If Harry didn't spit on Chris Pine would their PR teams put out a statement already saying no it didn't happen because we are disgusted by this? Pine the utmost professional guy was restraining himself. Styles was so disrespectful."

@miniCoopDeville tweeted a photo of Lea Michele and wrote, "Me when it came time to read that statement from Chris Pine's rep."
