Divorce May Be A 'Big Bang' For Some, But Not For Mayim Bialik

It's always great when an actor you watched while growing up is able to come back a decade or two later and it's like you've never lost touch. If you've watched television in the last decade you've seen or at least heard about The Big Bang Theory. But if you also watched tv in the 90's, you probably also watched Blossom. Whichever decade you watched, you know who Mayim Bialik is, and would scream out one of her two iconic character names if you saw her on the street.

In 1990's we saw the start of a show called Blossom and the introduction to a 15 year old Mayim Bialik playing the title character, who was a nerdy and extremely smart teenage girl. Not far from the truth really. For five years and five seasons we watched Blossom deal with all of the normal things teenagers come across, and we fell in love with Mayim. We couldn't wait to see what she did next. But she just disappeared on us.

She was still working, just doing a lot of voice over work. It wasn't until we saw her as the female version of Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory that we all gasped for a second, pointed at our screens, and said "hey, that's Blossom!" It was so good to see her back on screen in the flesh and once again, we fell for her character and rediscovered our passion for Mayim. We all wanted to know where she had been.

Turns out, getting a Ph.D. in neuroscience, getting married, having two children, and founding Grok Nation. While her personal life has been busy, she hasn't been spending time talking about it. She is an actor who keeps things close to the vest. That is until she discovered the power of YouTube. Though she still doesn't talk about her personal life, she tackles all kinds of issues from feminism to how to organize your house. She made an exception to talk about her divorce publicly for the first time.

In a very rare and candid YouTube episode, Mayim talks about her divorce. She posted it three years after and gives a few basic bullet points on how her family has navigated the waters. She doesn't shy away from the fact that she thinks divorce is lame, but that it was the best situation for them. From still sending her ex's family pictures of the kids, to making sure both parties are refraining from bad-mouthing each other, it seems they have figured it all out. As if we needed another reason to love Mayim.
