French Montana Partnered With A Healthcare Organization
French Montana recently revealed his desire to help people who were struggling with substance addiction. The "Unforgettable" artist partnered with Guardian Recovery Services, NAQI Healthcare. The organization helps addicts by providing an in-home detox program with medical supervisors to aid their addiction-free journey.
The 37-year-old joined Janine Rubenstein from the "PEOPLE Every Day" podcast (Via People)and talked about what moved him down that route. During the interview, French Montana spoke about Miller's death as one of the reasons he decided to help.
The "Mopstick" artist said. "It touched me because I'm in that space, and I consider these artists as my brothers and my family. And when we lose one, it's like damn near losing part of us. I've been thinking about this for a very long time. What can I do to help?"
French Montana On Drug Addiction
As per People Magazine, the "Famous" rapper went on to talk about how easy it was to get addicted to controlled substances like pills and alcohol. Montana described becoming an alcoholic as a "slippery slope" because most people tended to turn to the bottle whenever they had something to celebrate.
The rapper said, "They say [alcohol] is the easiest thing to get into, and it's the hardest thing to get rid of. It's a slippery slope. Every time you celebrate, you're having to drink. You have your own vices, and after a while, that becomes an everyday thing. It becomes an addiction."
He also shed light on pills and how simple doctor prescriptions for minor pains could grow into an addiction one has a hard time dealing with. "[Pills] can sneak up on you, too," the "No Stylist" artist added.
"When you go to the doctor for a pain in your leg or your tooth is hurting, they give you Vicodins or Percocets. Before you know it, you're feeling good, and you keep taking them [when you don't need them anymore]. And opiates are one of the most dangerous things to get addicted to — oxys, all of those," he said.
French Montana Said Treatment Could Be Carried Out From Home
Montana explained that while addictions start from "a fun place," shutting it down was a whole other issue entirely. According to the rapper, several addicts have succumbed to overdose over the past two decades, especially artists.
Most of the time, the issue is linked to the patient's reluctance to let other people become aware of their problems; hence they try to go about it themselves. He pointed out that with NAQI Healthcare, issues like privacy could be resolved because the program can be conducted in the comfort of people's homes or in a different private location.
The 37-year-old said, "I'm very excited and very happy that we can cure people, especially in the comfort of their homes. A lot of people are private. When you go through your problems, you want to stay private, and you want to be taken care of wherever you're comfortable. We want to help people stay alive as much as we can, wherever they're comfortable."
NAQI Healthcare's services are currently available in states in the US like Texas, New York, Florida as well as California, with the intention to spread across other locations.
