Florence Pugh showed up at the Venice Film Festival this weekend shocking all of the curious Don’t Worry Darling fans and cast. Pugh has been fueding with the film’s director Olivia Wilde and had already skipped a few engagements related to the movie.
The Premiere Was Icy
Chances are Pugh showed up to the festival because she is contractually obligated to promote the film. She stunned in a dark-colored, sparkly Valentino gown. However, it was very noticeable that she did not stand beside Wilde or her boyfriend Harry Styles for any of the photos; there was always at least one or two people between them.
Sources also pointed out that Pugh was not seen speaking to Wilde or Styles at all. Pugh skipped out on the press conferences and photo calls leading up to the film festival. It triggered fans to wonder why she wasn’t promoting the film like everyone else.

Olivia Wilde Is In Denial
While Pugh is determined to keep her distance whenever possible, Wilde has been doing her due diligence and promoting her sophomore directorial moment. When asked about how she felt about Pugh finally showing up to promote the film, Wilde didn’t take the bait.
“Florence is a force, we are so grateful that she is able to make it tonight despite being in production,” said the 38-year-old. “As for all the endless tabloid gossip and noise out there, the internet feeds itself. I don’t feel I need to contribute to it.”
Pugh would say differently, maybe the same thing goes for Shia Labeouf who also almost starred in the film. Wilde has been making the round claiming she was forced to fire Labeouf and replace him with Styles but he begs to differ.
“Firing me never took place, Olivia,” the actor said to Wilde in a public statement. “And while I fully understand the attractiveness of pushing that story because of the current social landscape, the social currency that brings. It is not the truth.”

So Why Are Florence Pugh & Shia Labeouf So Upset?
Wilde really did a number on her actors. Labeouf has no problem publicly calling her a liar and Pugh has made it clear publicly, as well that she did not like the relationship that developed on set between Wilde and Styles.
She called it unprofessional and uncomfortable for her working conditions. The sentiment was echoed by the energy at the festival. The entire cast was dodging questions about the working environment.
Wilde however, continues to try and spin the narrative so she doesn’t look unprofessional and proves her co-stars right. She told Variety, “tabloid media is a tool to pit women against one another and to shame them.” Do you have something to be shamed for, Olivia? Asking for a friend.
Florence Pugh Is Playing Her Own Game
As we mentioned earlier, the festival was the only event that Pugh was contractually obligated to show up to including a press conference one day before the premiere, the red carpet, and then the actual premiere.
Pugh even confirmed she would be there for all the events then BANG! Just like that, the actress cancels her appearance at the press conference and only showed up on the red carpet in enough time to walk it and retreat inside to watch the film.
Pugh claimed she had to cancel last minute due to obligations related to Dune Part II. But that excuse is already being poked at because the star of the Dune series, Timothee Chalamet made it to all of his red carpet events and then some.
Wilde is happy to play up this excuse because let’s face it, it makes her look less sketchy. “Florence is a force, and we are so grateful that she’s able to make it tonight despite being in production on Dune. I know, as a director, how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I’m very grateful to her, to Denis Villeneuve for helping us.”
Let’s see if Pugh shows up to any other events for this controversial film.
