Netflix is preparing to pump out yet another original series. This time around, the massive streaming platform is forgoing the live-action scene for a new animates series.
The show will feature a cast of talented acting veterans that any television fan will be quick to pick out. Among them, Netflix has managed to lock down none other than Mark Hamill for one of the show’s most iconic roles. Since the announcement of Hamill’s involvement, the internet has seemingly been flung into excitement over the new original series.
Mark Hamill has been hard at work as of late. Sure, the lightsaber-wielding Star Wars hero is best known for his time in front of the camera. However, Hamill is also a highly respected voice actor. Behind the mic, Hamill is best known for his performance as The Joker within both the Batman: The Animated Series and the video game Batman: Arkham Asylum. Now, Hamill is putting his famous voice to work once again. This time around, the Star Wars hero will be joining a star-studded cast for the upcoming series Masters of the Universe: Revelations.
Masters of the Universe: Revelations is set within the world of the iconic television series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe that was made famous during the early 1980s. As reported by IGN, the new series will pick up where the original series left off. He-Man, the series’ protagonist, will be played by Chris Wood. Skeletor, the show’s villainous evildoer, will be played by Mark Hamill. That being said, Masters of the Universe: Revelations’ star-studded cast certainly does not stop there.
While Mark Hamill has been getting the most media attention out of the cast so far, veteran Game of Thrones cast member Lena Headey will also be playing an important role within the series. The actor best known for her role as the queen of the seven kingdoms will be getting behind the mic to play Evil-Lyn for Masters of the Universe: Revelations.
Of course, the Masters of the Universe: Revelations showrunner is capable of generating buzz all on his own.
Masters of the Universe: Revelations is being helmed by the cult-classic cultivating director Kevin Smith. Most famous for his films Clerks and Chasing Amy, Smith quickly burrowed his way into both film and nerd culture. Now a pop culture icon in his own right, the Clerks director is moving on to tell the story of He-Man and his many adventures.
While a release date has not yet been announced for the new series, the streaming giant has gone on to release a peak at the show’s incredible cast.
