In a new interview with the Daily Mail, Britney’s eldest son opened up on why the boys didn’t attend her June wedding to Iranian actor Sam Asghari and their thoughts on Britney’s stifling 13-year conservatorship.
Britney Spears’ Sons Say Her Parents Aren’t ‘Bad People’ Despite Conservatorship Abuse Claims
In the interview, which will air on ITV Friday, Jayden appears beside his father as he talked about why he didn’t attend Britney and Sam’s wedding, despite it being held in her own backyard.
“At the time it just wasn’t a good time to go,” Jayden said. “I’m not saying that I’m not happy for her. I’m really happy for them, but she didn’t invite the whole family, and then if it was just going to be me and Preston, I just don’t see how that situation would have ended on good terms.”
Britney has been estranged from her father, Jamie, mother Lynne, sister Jamie Lynn, and brother Bryan, ever since her 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021. Jayden was vocal about his famous family, admitting that, while the conservatorship went on for too long, he doesn’t think his grandparents are “bad people.”
Britney’s Son Jayden Says That Britney ‘Should Have Taken A Break and Relaxed’
In the interview, Jayden said that his grandfather was “just trying to be like any father, letting [his] daughter pursue her dream of becoming a superstar, but I did think maybe the conservatorship went on too long.”
Jayden said the lengthy conservatorship was “probably why my mom was very angry about the whole situation that she was working for too long — I personally think she was. She should have taken a break and relaxed.”
The 16-year-old then backed his grandfather, saying Jamie “doesn’t deserve all the hatred he is getting” and doesn’t find him to be “manipulative,” despite what his mother has alleged.
“They are not bad people. They know what we are going through now. They want our future to be what we want it to be,” Jayden said. “They just want to watch over us. Memaw [Lynne] and Uncle Bryan are a good part of our lives. They have taught me how to deal with things.”
Britney Spears Fires Back In Lengthy Instagram Post
In her new Instagram post, which is currently still up at the time of this writing, the “Toxic” singer fired back at her sons, saying, “I’ve tried my best at being the best person I can be.”
“I say to my son Jayden that I send all the love in the world to you every day for the rest of my life !!!!” she wrote. “My love for my children has no boundaries and it deeply saddens me to know his outcry of saying I wasn’t up to his expectations of a mother … and maybe one day we can meet face to face and talk about this openly !!!!”
“I completely understand your need to live with your father as I had to play the perfect role for 15 years for absolutely nothing,” she wrote. “I’m so happy I was able to carry 4 tours, judge X Factor and WAAAY more … I did that for you.”
She also addressed her son Sean, 15, who did not speak during the interview. “It’s horrible to see your dad be a hypocrite and say the media is horrible yet he has you talking about personal matters to them !!!” Britney wrote.
“Since Preston didn’t speak, I send my love !!!” she wrote. “I would love nothing more than to see you two face to face. Keep playing your gift on the piano … you and your brother both are brilliant and I’m so proud to call you both mine.”
She ended her statement, writing, “Psss if you can honestly sit back and say with your sensible brilliant mind what memaw and paw paw did to me was fine and call them not bad people … then yes I have failed as a mother and hopefully that’s a chat for you and your father to sit face to face and try to learn WHAT’S GOOD.”
