Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon: The Relationship That Almost Wasn't

It was the summer of 2015 and there were many tears, lots of snot and sniffling, and all this in front of the beautiful backdrop of a Mexican beach. Romantic right?

Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon are the epitome of a friends to lovers story. When they were friends, they were seriously friends, as in he was definitely not into her.

Then, as if their relationship just appeared overnight, the two were together, engaged, and married in a relatively short time period.

The couple met on season 2 of Bachelor In Paradise, and it was love at first sight, at least for Ashley.

Jared, however, was more reluctant, and friend-zoned Ashley pretty quickly. However, she invited her future husband on a date and he gave her the highly desired rose.

The pair went on a pretty awesome four-wheeling date in Mexico, and continued giving each other roses at the rose ceremonies. They even went on a fantasy suite date with Ashley's virginity being brought up.

They left the show as "just friends" though Ashley was clearly distraught by this. Jared claimed he still had feelings for Kaitlyn Bristowe who sent him home on her season of The Bachelorette, but it appeared as a pretty easy excuse for the fact that he didn't want to continue things with Ashley.

Despite remaining friends after season 2 of Bachelor In Paradise, Jared was surprised when Ashley showed up in Mexico on the next season in 2016.

Unfortunately for her, Jared already had eyes for Caila Quinn.

Ashley later wrote a recap of the show for Cosmopolitan, in which she said, "Yes, I was concerned about Caila going to Paradise because I didn't want Jared falling for someone in front of my eyes, OK. I know his type! Still, Caila assured me on multiple occasions that even if she did Paradise, she wouldn't want to ruin our friendship by dating Jared, and that Jared wasn't her type inside or outside (albeit, she'd never met him)."

She continued, "Without her in the mix, Jared and I both didn't think there'd be anyone in Paradise he'd really fall hard for — so I didn't prepare myself to walk into that."

Yikes! Unfortunately, Jared and Caila did go on to date. Cue the famous Ashley tears/snot fest.

As these things usually seem to go (men always want what they can't have), Jared didn't realize his feelings for Ashley until she had moved on with Kevin Wendt from The Bachelor Winter Games.

After announcing their relationship, the couple were engaged and married not long after. Now, they have just celebrated their 6 month anniversary. I wonder if Ashley shed some tears of happiness this time?

The Bachelor In Paradise alum shared an Instagram photo celebrating their wedding anniversary, with the pair holding their marriage certificate.

Well, their relationship just goes to show you, sometimes "the one" is worth fighting for!
