With the new season of American Idol starting February 16, fans of the long-running singing competition show are eager to see who the contestants are, and vet them for themselves, without too much interference from the producing and editing process of the show. Luckily, in the age of social media, it's easy to get a sense of who people are without knowing them. One already popular contestant in Meghan Fitton. A promising talent, it looks like she'll be featured pretty heavily on the show, but no one knows yet how far she'll go.

Fitton hails from the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts. A small town to the southwest of Boston, the population is only about 17,000. However, Fitton was always surrounded by people growing up. According to her LinkedIn page, her father is one of seven children, so she always have plenty of aunts, uncles, and cousins around. Because of this very social upbringing, she has become very outgoing, and a self-described "people person". Her love of people is partly what drives her to perform: She says her goal is to "inspire" others.

Fitton graduated in 2018 from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Music degree in Studio Music and Jazz. It looks like she did well, too, as her LinkedIn page says she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She was also pretty involved it looks like, having been a member of Alpha Delta Pi's Circle of Sisterhood Committee, and juggling an office administration position at the same time. Hopefully, this training and work ethic gives her an edge in the competition.

Looks like the singer is also a fan of everyone's other favorite reality show, The Bachelor. In a promo for the upcoming season of American Idol, judge Katy Perry holds up a tablet for Fitton to look at. A video plays in which Chris Harrison, the host of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, holds out a rose for Fitton, and says, "Will you accept this final rose?" Fitton doubles over with laughter and covers her cheeks in a very sweet moment.

It looks like Fitton has already garnered some publicity, possibly due to her American Idol appearance, and is going on a New York tour soon. She also has an EP coming out in March, but you can listen to her previously released music on her website. Fitton is currently based in New York City, where she is living the life of a singer/songwriter, auditioning, writing, and, of course, performing in order to pursue her dream.
The new season of American Idol premieres Sunday, February 16, at 6pm PST.
