Avril Lavigne is celebrating her Hollywood Walk of Fame star!
The singer, who received the honor 20 years after her breakout single, "Sk8er Boi," updated her fans on the event with several photos she dropped on social media. Fans and friends quickly let Lavigne know she deserved the honor more than anybody else in the comments.
Avril Lavigne Joins Long List Of Established Entertainment Figures To Get Star
Avril Lavigne became the latest entertainment heavyweight to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on August 31, and the singer could barely contain her joy. The 37-year-old promptly took to her Instagram to share multiple photos of the ceremony with her 11.6 million followers.
While the first post was an up-close look at the star on the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk, the subsequent one showed her in different poses. The series of photos featured Lavigne sitting on the floor and giving the rockstar sign before she stepped on it in the next slide.
A third photo was of the Canadian singer-songwriter surrounded by her loved ones, including rapper Machine Gun Kelly and singer Mod Sun. Lavigne also laid next to the star and excitedly held up her plaque while doing the rockstar sign beside MGK and singer John Feldmann. In the caption, the princess of punk — as she is lovingly called — wrote:
"Look Mom. I got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame [star emoji]."
Along with the 507k+ likes it has received, the post also got an influx of comments. While some simply congratulated Lavigne, others like Sun gushed, "A moment that lives on forever. So absolutely proud of u + this is so deserved! Congrats my love."

Singer-songwriter Roy English — better known as Jagwar Twin — penned, "You're a Star, and you've always been one. Thank you for inspiring so many earth humans to remember that they, too are Stars in the truest sense of the word. Love you fairy sis." A Lavigne fan page informed the "Love It When You Hate Me" hitmaker that she was "the example that dreams come true if you fight for them!"
That comment was not too far from the truth as Lavigne's career milestone came as she toasted the 20th anniversary of her debut album "Let Go." The decades-old album catapulted her career with memorable hits like "Sk8er Boi," "Complicated," and "I'm With You."
The twice-divorced hitmaker celebrated the album benchmark with an Instagram post, per a report from The Blast. Using a throwback photo dump to commemorate the moment, Lavigne exclaimed in the caption:
"Holy f**k! Complicated was released 20 years ago today. This song holds such a special place in my heart. It was my first single off my first album. The song that started it all for me."
She recounted that "Complicated" was full of firsts for her — the first music video she shot and the first time she heard herself on the radio. The "Girlfriend" singer appreciated her co-writers Lauren Christy and The Matrix for being "the first team to really get me and understand my sound and vision."
She also thanked LA Reid for "discovering" her and giving her creative freedom. Lavigne finished the caption by sending her love to her fans for "embracing my music and showing me so much love then, and still now, 20 years later." Her fans naturally cheered her on in the comments before heading to YouTube to rewatch the iconic music video.
The 'Head Above Water' Singer Wants Kristen Stewart To Play Her In A Biopic
Lavigne has her sights set on Kristen Stewart playing her in a film. The "Hello Kitty" singer's choice might be one for the books since Stewart has appeared in numerous successful movies, prompting an avalanche of nominations and awards.
The 32-year-old was also 2012's highest-paid actress in the world and earned an Oscar nominee for her Princess Diana character in the 2021 film "Spencer." The "Twilight" star previously played the 63-year-old rock singer-songwriter Joan Jett in the 2010 musical drama "The Runaways."
With those projects under her belt, it makes sense that Lavigne would want the actress to play her in a Hollywood project. The Blast shared that the "Wish You Were Here" hitmaker revealed her thoughts during a red carpet chat for the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards in March. In her words:
"Kristen Stewart would be cool to play me in a film. Yeah, she’s dope."
Fans do not doubt that the actress would ace the role since she has consistently shown her dedication to living and breathing whatever person she represents in movies.
