In her latest Instagram post, the former Sports Illustrated cover model directly addressed her Instagram followers, writing, “When I post my insecurities - so many of you comment with ‘if you think it is hard for you, then what about us normal people?’”

“People make the assumption that external validation builds confidence,” she wrote. “But confidence comes from being validated as a person. Being heard and loved. Being considered beautiful invalidates everything else about you. Beauty becomes your calling card.”

“This is a validation of only the way you look. Every imperfection, every tiny flaw is pointed out and discussed as if it were of the greatest importance,” she continued. “What else is under the smooth coating of beauty is irrelevant.”

“People think if only they had that which wasn’t given to them, their lives would be great. But you are still you, the one molded by your upbringing, shaped by circumstance, polished with passing time,” she went on. “How you feel about yourself has nothing to do with how others see you.”

She explained that the photo above is “a photo from my recent @harpersbazaarcz shoot.” She tagged @radkaleitmeritz for the photo shoot and @fendi for the clothing.

“What YOU see is a woman with confidence - helped by a great professional team to look her very best,” she wrote. “But what’s underneath the glossy shine? A woman with a ton of insecurities based on the history of her life.”

“Pulchritude is a gift. Sure. But like all gifts -something handed to you without your participation - it comes with expectations from the giver that the recipient may not always be equipped for,” she continued, adding, “I write about this and a ton more in my upcoming book No Filter out this November, and available on preorder now if you click the link in my bio?.”

Less than a week ago, the beloved European model shared a photo of her posing new on Instagram, covering herself with only a bedsheet, as she shared some more candid reflections with her followers on social media.

“Is it objectification or celebration?” she began. “A little weekend food for thought…”

“In a patriarchal society, women have always been seen as objects of desire or nurture. Because these are the needs of men who run the world,” she wrote. “This is why youth and beauty are such a strong currency.”

“What happens when a woman decides to objectify herself?” she asked. “She is taking the powers she has been given and using them in her own interest but is simultaneously helping to perpetuate a system which has always existed. For this, she will be shamed and celebrated by both the perpetrators and the victims.”

“Under these same rules, a man seizing his power is celebrated. He will only be shamed for NOT taking the opportunity,” she added.

“Given these social guidelines- I’ve come to wonder if objectification falls mainly into the realm of youth,” she continued. “When I was a young model exposing my body, it was because someone else approved of it. Someone else decided it was to be celebrated.”

“I didn’t know enough to have an understanding of consequences. Hence, objectification,” she concluded. “Now, when I expose my body, [I do] it with my full knowledge and consent. Hence, celebration.
