Country music icon Dolly Parton's Christmas special will feature an ensemble of powerhouse guest stars, including Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Willie Nelson, amongst several others.

The movie "Mountain Magic Christmas," which Parton has been working on for a while, is written by David Rambo and produced by Billy Levin. Parton, Hudson Hickman, and Sam Haskell will serve as the film's executive producers.

While there's no date for the premiere yet, it is presumed to get released sometime between Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Dolly Parton's Upcoming Christmas Special Is Packed With Stars

According to People, NBC announced that Parton's upcoming Christmas special would feature guest stars such as Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmie Allen, Miley Cyrus, Willie Nelson, and Zach Williams. Parton is also said to feature in the film alongside Ana Gasteyer, Tom Everett Scott, and Angel Parker.

The musical movie "Mountain Magic Christmas" has been described to be a" modern-day movie musical about the making of a network TV special."

"It will portray the behind-the-scenes trajectory of Dolly's 'desire to uplift an exhausted world's spirits by sharing the unique 'mountain magic' she has always found in and around Dollywood at Christmas." The musical will focus on Parton as she undertakes several showbiz projects and eventually explores a "private journey into her past, guided by the mysterious appearances of her personal Three Wise Men."

A description for the Christmas special per Deadline, states that, "When it's time for her big special to air, a renewed and inspired Dolly goes rogue and shows the world that the real magic of Christmas lies in the hearts of the children we all once were, the realization that Christmas is about the people we share it with, and how her faith remains the common thread between Christmases past, present, and future."

Dolly Parton Signed A Deal With NBC

Parton's "Magic Mountain Christmas" is the star's third collaboration with NBC. These collaborations result from a developmental deal she signed with the network to create TV series based on her stories, songs, and "inspiring life."

The first series under the deal was "Coat of Many Colors," released in 2015, and its sequel "Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love," released in 2016. She also performed "I Will Always Love You" and "Coat of Many Colors" at the network's presentation.

The country music stars 2020 musical drama, "Christmas on the Square," took home two Emmy awards. One for Outstanding Television Movie and another for Outstanding Choreography For Scripted Programming.

Jimmy Fallon Expressed His Gratitude For Being A Part Of The Movie

Following the announcement of guest stars, Fallon took to his Instagram with some pictures from the movie set and expressed how thankful he felt to be on the cast of the Christmas project.

The picture features Fallon and Parton sitting in the director's chair, as the television host bursts into laughter while the country singer talks to him. Other pictures show the host walking around on the set, filming different scenes of the movie.

"I never need an excuse to go hang out with [Dolly Parton] and eat some Tennessee BBQ, but this trip was extra special," he captioned the post.

He continued, "I'm so excited to kick off the holidays at Dollywood for Dolly Parton's Mountain Magic Christmas - this holiday season on [NBC]."

As reported by The Blast, Parton will be teaming up with Kelly Clarkson for a new version of her hit song "9 to 5," which is due on September 9th.

"I'm so excited to finally announce the new version of '9 to 5' I recorded with the legendary [Dolly Parton] is coming out on September 9th!! Thank you, [ShaneMcAnally], for making this dream a reality and putting this project together," Clarkson shared on her Instagram alongside the pictures of the two stars.

Country singer  Shane McAnally also shared the news of the duet on his Instagram page. He wrote,  couple of years ago, my friends Gary & Larry called me about a documentary they were making about the 40 years since the movie “9 to 5” debuted and the effects it had on women’s rights issues. There was an idea to re-imagine the song “9 to 5” and they asked if I would be interested in working on it. I had worked with [Dolly Parton] on “Forever Country” and the possibility of working with her again seemed too good to be true..."
