Swifties Are Celebrating Taylor Swift's Big 'Midnights' Announcement
By Taylor Hodgkins on August 29, 2022 at 10:45 PM EDT
Taylor Swift's beloved track "Style" from 2014's "1989" LP begins with the word "midnight."
Well, eight later, Swifties have yet another reason to celebrate the allure and/or the miseries midnight can bring!
Earlier this morning The Blast joined the party when we published our report detailing the "All Too Well" singer's all too timely announcement!
News of "Midnights" and its existence broke a few hours after Swift, 32, graced the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she accepted three of the five 'moon men' she had been nominated for at the ceremony.
All of her nominations pertained to her extremely popular short film for the 10-minute version of "All Too Well," which had been included with the re-recording of her 2012 LP, "Red."

Swift took to Twitter to announce her new album at midnight EST on August 29th.
Her announcement included the album's cover art, and, in true Swift fashion, she included a letter explaining the inspiration behind "Midnights."
The text, which was written on a never-before-released photo featuring Swift with her head bowed and resting in her hand, reads, "We lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil, and in tears. We stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we aren't-right this minute- about to make some fateful life altering mistake."
Her tweet read, "Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21st. Meet me at midnight."
Our aforementioned report on "Midnights" also details many other goodies that Swifties can expect from the upcoming album! An inside source spoke to The Sun earlier this month and detailed that Swift had been preparing to "surprise fans with her most experimental album" and will also include "a fresh take on her romance with actor Joe Alwyn" as well!
What Are Swifties Saying?
Swifties were soon breaking out the celebratory tweets, memes, and fueling the buzz for Swift's upcoming tenth album!
taylor swift didn’t write “it’s 2 am feeling like i just lost a friend” and “lit through the darkness at 1:58” and “the lingering question kept me up, 2AM who do you love?” and “i want your midnights” for this to not become one of her greatest albums

A fan who goes by @clockwork_reads on Twitter tweeted "taylor swift didn't write 'it's 2am feeling like i just lost a friend" and 'lit through the darkness at 1:58' and 'the lingering question kept me up, 2AM who do you love?' and 'i want your midnights' for this to not become one of her greatest albums."
I’m at the age where everyone is announcing their pregnancies and engagements and yet here I am sharing Taylor Swift album release dates to my instagram story instead

Another fan chimed in by tweeting a feeling that is surely relatable to many Swifties, "I'm at the age where everyone is announcing their pregnancies and engagements and yet here I am sharing Taylor Swift album release dates to my Instagram story instead."
The subreddit dedicated to the singer also lit up with discussion around "Midnights!"
A Reddit user shared some love for a certain song on Swift's "evermore," the second of two albums she released in 2020.
"I hope there will be one song with a 'Champange Problems' vibe. Ready to be torn to pieces," the comment reads.
Another Swiftie Reddit user had some big praise for "Midnights'" album cover!
"I love the idea of the album cover being a close up of her face. In 'folklore,' she was far away in the picture--representing a step away from self reflection and more into analysis/exploration into things/stories outside of her immediate life. However, 'Midnights' being a close-up of her face, looks like it's going to be an intense introspection-- a painstakingly honest and blunt look inward," SlighlySourMilk wrote.
Swift values her relationship with her fanbase greatly. Her gratitude for her Swifties was on full display in her acceptance speech for her Video Of The Year acceptance speech!
"You guys, I'm just so proud of what we made and I know with every second of this moment that we wouldn't have been able to make this short film if it weren't for you the fans," she began in the speech, "I wouldn't be able to re-record my albums if it weren't for you, you embolded me to do that."
She went on to say, "I made up my mind that if you were going to be this generous and give us this... I thought it would be a fun moment to tell you my new album comes out on October 21st, and I will tell you more at midnight..." (per The Blast)
