With 'To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You,' Maddie Ziegler Begins Her Film Acting Career

Maddie Ziegler has come a long way since we first met her on Lifetime's reality hit Dance Moms. With a quick cameo in To All the Boys I've Loved Before: P.S. I Still Love You as "Pep Squad Girl," Maddie has excited her fans, and gotten the ball rolling on what is sure to be an illustrious film career. Although she has yet to make her big-screen debut, Ziegler is no stranger to performance, having built up a pretty sold resume already.

Ziegler first became known to TV audiences when she appeared on Dance Moms when she was only eight years old. Even if you didn't watch that show, you probably still know her as a dancer, because one of her first big breakout roles was in Australian singer Sia's music videos for Chandelier, Electric Heart, Big Girls Cry, Cheap Thrills and The Greatest. Her talent was obvious during these projects, and she stood out on Dance Moms as much as she did in the avant-garde music videos.

Although we know her from Dance Moms, Maddie has actually done a good amount of scripted TV now as well. This must be where she honed her acting chops, as the schedule for TV shooting can be grueling. She's had a number of guest spots on kid-friendly TV shows such as Nickelodeon's Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn, Disney Channel's Austin and Ally, and the Netflix Original Series Spirit Riding Free_. That's quite an impressive resume already, which probably prepared Ziegler for her first movie pretty well.

Fans of Maddie's were so happy to see her on-screen that it would be a shame not to put her in the third installment, To All the Boys: Always and Forever, Lara Jean. Though Ziegler played a Pep Squad Girl (also known as a cheerleader), she did not lean into the bratty cheerleader trope, showing her creativity and range. Although she only appeared in one scene, she was an important part of the movie, so there's a chance her character will appear in the next installment as well.

Soon, we will see Ziegler in a film again, but this time, it will be on the big screen. She is set to appear as Velma in Steven Spielberg's remake of the classic musical movie West Side Story. Of the experience, she told Entertainment Tonight, "It was honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had. To work with Steven Spielberg was a pretty life-changing thing, so I'm really grateful for that." Looks like we will definitely be seeing Ziegler's dance and acting skills soon!
