Maye Musk Explains Why She Sleeps In A Garage While Visiting Son Elon Musk In Texas

Dietician, Maye Musk, has revealed her sleeping arrangement when she stops over at son Elon Musk's place in Texas.
Elon reportedly resides in SpaceX headquarters in Boca Chica, Texas, a company aiming to make extraterrestrial travels possible in the near future. The wealthy tech guru previously disclosed that he sold off most of his properties to concentrate entirely on space exploration and other tech endeavors.
In a recent interview, Maye shared that she spends the night in the garage whenever she visits Elon. The mother of three asserted that Elon could not possibly have a luxurious home at SpaceX and added that her son was not interested in owning worldly possessions.

Maye Musk Says She Sleeps In The Garage
Maye recently shared a shocking detail about her sleeping arrangements whenever she visits her son at the SpaceX facility in Texas. While many might assume that she sleeps on the coziest of mattresses on such visits, the 74-year-old admitted in an interview with The Times that she actually slums it out in the garage.
Elon has a net worth of over $200 billion and controls several businesses, including the electric car company Tesla. Hence, Maye's reveal came as a stunner for fans who would have expected much more. She subsequently explained that the facility's nature was unsuitable for building glamorous residences.
"You can't have a fancy house near a rocket site," she told the publication.
To further explain the sleeping arrangements, Maye stated that Elon was not interested in possessions "at all." As for as it goes, Maye doesn't mind sleeping in the garage and sees it as a small price to pay to see her son.
Elon Musk Pays Rent For His Home
Back in June of last year, Elon replied to a tweet informing followers that he was not a fan of having multiple houses.
He revealed at the time that he lives in one of the homes in the SpaceX facilities and not in some fancy ranch or high-end neighborhood. The tech guru also shared that he does not own the apartment but pays rent just like every other employee.
"My primary home is literally a ~$50k house in Boca Chica / Starbase that I rent from SpaceX. It's kinda awesome though," he said. In the tweet, Elon disclosed that he owned a big house but that it was solely used for hosting events for the company.
He added, "Only house I own is the events house in the Bay Area. If I sold it, the house would see less use, unless bought by a big family, which might happen someday."
Elon Musk Sold Off His Properties To Focus On His Space Plans
Elon's tweet came months after the tech mogul put several of his properties in the Los Angeles area up for sale. Per the New York Post, Elon wanted to feel unencumbered by worldly possessions while he devoted his life "to Mars and Earth.
For years, the eccentric billionaire has been talking about his interplanetary ambitions, hoping that one day humans can shuttle between Earth and Mars. While the possibility of that happening still seems farfetched, Elon's renowned rocket company SpaceX is working hard at making that technology a reality.
But if success is made any time soon, Maye said to The Times that, she wasn't ready to make the arduous trip to the planet. "You have to have six months of preparation and isolation, and that simply doesn't appeal to me," she said per. But I'll comply if my children ask me to.
Maye Musk Named Her Son The 'Genius Boy
When not visiting Elon, Maye lives in a small apartment in New York with her dog, who she loves to take on a walk.
"My place is not big," she told TheTimes. "I don't need big. I don't need wasted space because with it come responsibilities. I feel like I am settled in, and I said to my kids, 'This is the nicest place I have ever lived.'"
In a Forbes magazine interview, she highlighted that Elon had displayed immense brilliance from a young age. Maye nicknamed him the "genius boy" at the time, as his unexplainable ability to retain information baffled his family.
She added: "He was always absorbing information. We could ask him anything," Maye said. "This was before the Internet. I guess now we would call him the Internet."
