Former "Boy Meets World" star, Ben Savage, recently revealed his desire to run for West Hollywood City Council. The actor was a part of the ABC sitcom from 1993-2000 as Cory Matthews. He also starred in "Girl Meets World," which lasted from 2014 to 2017.
During his time on set, the 41-year-old notably attended and graduated from Stanford University with a Political Science degree. He also notably interned with a Pennsylvanian Senator in the early 2000s, revealing that his political interests went far back.
Ben previously filed and qualified as a candidate for the City Council in West Hollywood. He noted his almost two decades of residency in the city and declared his intention to help the city tackle future challenges if elected.

Former ABC actor Savage will reportedly be part of the candidates in the November West Hollywood City Council election. The 41-year-old recently announced his intention to run for the seat in West Hollywood, California. According to Gawker, paperwork concerning his campaign has already been filed with the city.
The actor's website revealed that for the past 18 years, Savage lived in West Hollywood. The website also displayed a statement from the "Boy Meets World" actor, where he listed the city's achievements and how the current turn of events frustrated the residents. He said, "I have seen this city grow to become one of the most thriving cities in the country – with extraordinary restaurants, hotels, nightlife, and culture."
The statement continued, "In recent years, however, people have become disappointed with the direction the city is heading. Residents and community leaders have expressed frustration with the political divisiveness and loss of a sense of community. People are eager for leaders who can talk to each other, build coalitions, work together on common sense policies, and put the interests of the city and residents above their own."

Further on, the 41-year-old revealed that his reason for running for City Council was in a bid to help in the challenges to come. He explained that the city needed a "sensible, honest and strong" person in a leadership position to tackle the challenges.
Savage continued, "I'm a long-time resident, union member, and concerned citizen who believes West Hollywood deserves leaders who would deliver results. The city is facing serious challenges around public safety, struggling businesses, inflation, and cost of housing. We need new leaders with a fresh perspective who are ready to begin tackling these issues."
The actor concluded the statement by declaring West Hollywood his "home for many years" and mentioning his interest in seeing the city thrive and remain safe. Savage added, "Together, we can help West Hollywood become the best it can be."

Savage reportedly has a degree in political science after his stint with Stanford and has been very vocal concerning the importance of the City Council race to him. Gawker also revealed that Savage was in the West Hollywood City Council meeting, which was held in June.
There, the 41-year-old declared that West Hollywood was the best city worldwide and that to give the city the attention it needed, the Mayor of West Hollywood, Lauren Meister, required some help. Savage claimed that the aid would function as a "clear set of eyes" for the city and have no attachments.
The 42-year-old's interest in politics began a while back. During his stay at Stanford, Savage interned for Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania in 2003. At the moment, it isn't known if he is running for a city council position as a Republican, Democrat, or independent.
Fred Savage Was Fired From 'The Wonder Years'
Ben's brother, Fred Savage, has also been in the news recently, however, for a different, less savory issue. The actor was previously fired from the reboot of ABC's "The Wonder Years" after complaints of sexual harassment were submitted to Disney by six female crew members.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the comments of the women involved alleged that from time to time, two sides of the 46-year-old showed; "a charismatic, seemingly supportive colleague and a far darker, angrier alter ego."
Fred was accused of flipping to the darker alter ego in a minute, and during those periods, "His eyes would go dead." One of the accusers claimed that the actor never behaved that way around other actors or the show's executives and gave his absolute perfect, best face" to them at all times.
Fred released a statement after being fired, denying the claims and promising to address every behavior that made his co-workers uncomfortable. "I will work to address and change any behavior that has negatively affected anyone, as nothing in this world is more important to me than being a supportive co-worker, friend, husband, father, and person," the actor said.
