It could be said that this was unexpected, but was it really that unexpected?
There are only so many pre-Oscars parties - at least, ones worth attending - so it shouldn't serve as a huge surprise that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth ended up at the same one. This is especially true considering theres was the bash held by their mutual agency, William Morris Endeavor.
27-year-old Miley split from Hemsworth last year. It was Hemsworth who filed the original divorce petition in August 2019, and their divorce was finalized just a few days ago.

The pair were photographed, albeit separately, outside of the agency's bash. Cyrus was sporting a pair of aviators, a casual black-and-white ensemble, and a big smile. Hemsworth, also in black, was flying solo at the event - unlike his ex-wife.
But don't get too excited! Miley was not walking arm-in-arm with her new-ish beau, Australian crooner Cody Simpson. She instead opted to attend the event with her parents, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus.
A source who attended the party says that Miley and Liam "didn't even speak."

However, they also said it "wasn't a big deal."
"The party was packed and it wasn’t awkward for Miley that Liam was there. She was with her parents and friends,” the insider continued. “Liam is her past and Miley is focused on the future. She had great years with Liam and has no regrets. She feels it was all meant to be. Now she has moved on to other great things. She is very happy with Cody [Simpson] and that’s her focus.”

But in typical Miley fashion (we assume), the pre-Oscars celebration was only the beginning. She was also spotted attending the Tom Ford fashion show alongside her older brother, 30-year-old musician Trace Cyrus.
Fun fact: The elder Cyrus was formerly a member of Metro Station, which served as the opening act on Miley's 2009 international "Wonder World Tour," which was in support of her previous-year album release of Breakout.

Joining both members of the Cyrus clan on Tom Ford's front row were Jason Momoa, Lil Nas X, and Lisa Bonet. In the photos posted by PEOPLE, you can also see a member of the second row photobombing a selfie of Miley and Lil Nas X.
We apologize if he's famous, but he's just not a part of our regular "beat" coverage. The convicted photobomber was cropped out of the rapper's Instagram post of the pic, which makes us feel a LOT better about not recognizing him.
Sorry, boo!
