Kate Moss Opens Up On 1992 Topless Calvin Klein Photo Shoot
Late last month, Kate Moss appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs radio show, where she talked about feeling “vulnerable” and “scared” during her iconic 1992 Calvin Klein topless photo shoot with a young Mark Wahlberg.
Moss said that the photo shoot left her with “not very good memories” and left her with an unfavorable impression of the “Uncharted” actor. “He was very macho, and it was all about him. He had a big entourage,” she recalled. “I was just this kind of model.”
When Moss was asked if she “felt objectified” at the time, Moss answered, “Yeah, completely. And vulnerable. And scared. I think they played on my vulnerability.” She added, “I was quite young and innocent, so Calvin loved that.”
The “Catwalk” star admitted that she had such “severe anxiety” that the photo shoot that a doctor actually prescribed her Valium to calm her down. “I really didn’t feel well at all before the shoot,” she recalled. “For like, a week or two, I couldn’t get out of bed.”
Mark Wahlberg Admitted He Was A Little ‘Rough Around The Edges’ At That Time
This isn’t the first time that Kate Moss has opened up about her experience in the topless photo shoot. In 2012, Moss told Vanity Fair that she had a “nervous breakdown” when she had to “go and work with Marky Mark.”
However, it seems that the two have since made up. In 2020, Mark Wahlberg spoke to The Guardian about how “scared” she felt at the time. When asked if he “ever made up” with her, he said, “I never really had a problem with Kate, did I?”
“I think I was probably a little rough around the edges. Kind of doing my thing,” he said of the 1992 Calvin Klein ad. “I wasn’t very… worldly, let’s say that. But I’ve seen her and said hello. I think we saw each other at a concert here and there, we said hi and exchanged pleasantries.”
