Shannen Doherty's 'Charmed' Co-Star Holly Marie Combs Has A Strong Message For The Haters

Shannen Doherty came public this week about her current battle with stage 4 breast cancer, and was immediately flooded with messages of support on social media.

One person who didn't say anything publicly was her former "Charmed" co-star Holly Marie Combs. Fans were critical of Combs for her silence, so she took to Twitter to clap back at those people.

"Let’s get one thing straight. I don’t use social media to send messages to people I’ve known for 30 years. You can. But I don’t," Combs wrote. She then quote tweeted a cute cat video and wrote,

"This. Cuz Twitter is filled with idiots."

Alyssa Milano responded to her tweet with, "I support this 100%."

"Damn girl! You talking old school? Like an actual telephone call?? Or maybe even an in-person visit?? These concepts are getting further from society. I still like to show up and knock on doors and ask if they can come out and play! Way to stand up for the old school!" one fan added.

"I really didn't want you to have to explain yourself b/c you don't owe these people, or anyone for that matter, anything. Being on social media doesn't mean you have to share everything especially private matters. Thx for speaking up anyway. Love you Holly," another wrote.

"It's going to come out in a matter of days or a week that I have stage 4," Doherty said in an interview with ABC News this week. "So my cancer came back and that's why I'm here.

"I don't think that I've processed it," Doherty told Amy Robach. "It's a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. I definitely have days where I say, 'Why me?' And then I go, 'Well, why not me? Who else besides me deserves this?' None of us do."

"I would say that my first reaction is always concern about how I'm going to tell my mom, my husband," she added.

"It's a hard one because I thought when I finally do come out I would have worked and worked 16 hours a day and people can look at that and say, 'Oh my God, she can work and other people with stage 4 can work,'" she continued while talking about filming the "Beverly Hills 90210" reboot last year. "Our life doesn't end the minute we get that diagnosis. We still have some living to do."

Doherty previously was diagnosed with breast cancer, but it went into remission around 2015.
