Casey Affleck has welcomed his new sister-in-law and actress Jennifer Lopez to the Affleck clan.
When Ben and Lopez got married for the second time at the former's Georgia home over the weekend in front of friends and loved ones, Casey was noticeably missing from the festivities.
However, that did not stop the "Gone Baby Gone" actor from welcoming Lopez to the family with a sweet message. Casey's welcome note laid some family feud rumors to bed, earning him extra respect from fans and followers.
Casey Affleck Prepares Jennifer Lopez For Some Family Dysfunction
In the Instagram post Casey dropped on Sunday, Ben and Lopez look comfortable as they strolled during the first round of their early 2000s romance. While Ben opted for a shirt, oversized black jacket, oversized gray pants, and brown shoes, his then-girlfriend showed off her flat stomach in a cropped top.
The "Maid in Manhattan" actress paired the top with white pants, a black belt, an oversized bag, and a silver pendant. Her hair is pulled back from her face to show the earrings she has on as she, Ben, and Casey are having a conversation on the road. Casey wrote in the caption:
"Good things are worth waiting for. Here is to twists and turns, new beginnings, and finding new reservoirs of old love. Welcome to the family. Get ready for some real dysfunction! Kidding. I am kidding. Jen, you are a gem. We love you so much!!!"
Along with the 9k+ likes the post received, fans of the couple trooped into Casey's comment section to wish them well. One person wrote that seeing Ben and Lopez get married filled them with joy, and another quipped, "Jen is really a gem, she is a gift. Very beautiful your words and the affection of those who saw this love born and now be reborn."

A third commenter noted, "So tired of the media trying to make a story out of nothing. happy for your family." The "story out of nothing" statement has something to do with the rumors that all was not well within the Affleck family, thus prompting Casey to miss out on the affair.
Fortunately, The Blast laid that rumor to rest when it was reported that the "Every Breath You Take Philip" author missed the wedding due to "family, parental obligations at home." Whether that is true remains to be seen as Bennifer — as they are sweetly called — had to deal with the Affleck matriarch, Chris Anne Boldt, falling off a dock at their estate, injuring her leg just a few hours before the ceremony.
This event led "The Batman" star to take his mother to the hospital, where he was seen smoking cigarettes and pacing as he awaited medical updates. Once Bodt got cleared by doctors, the family proceeded to have the wedding of their dreams, with Lopez rocking a white couture Ralph Lauren gown.
On the other hand, Ben wore a white tuxedo suit and formal black pants. The event was graced by guests like actor Matt Damon, "Clerks" director Kevin Smith, Patrick Whitesell, actor Jason Mewes, and their wives.
An insider had previously revealed that the wedding was orchestrated by event planner and interior decorator Colin Cowie. It was presided over by lifestyle guru Jay Shetty. Bennifer first got married in Las Vegas last month.
Casey Flaked Out Of Attending The 2018 Oscars For Unexpected Reason
The last time Casey noticeably skipped out of attending an event was in 2018, when he backed out of presenting at that year's Academy Awards. According to TMZ, the "Light of My Life" director informed the Academy that he would not be participating in the tradition of presenting the Best Actress award to the winner at that year's Oscars, per the Academy's tradition.
Sources claimed that even though the "Ocean's Eleven" actor had "a lot of respect" for the Oscars, he did not want to make the Best Actress category about him presenting the award. He reportedly wanted the attention to remain on the nominees without his presence impacting the winner's special moment.
Affleck won the Best Actor award at the 2017 Oscars for his "Lee Chandler" role in "Manchester by the Sea." He got the recognition despite the controversy surrounding the sexual harassment allegations against him. You would recall that the "Good Will Hunting" star was accused of inappropriate behavior towards two women who worked on "I'm Still Here," the film he directed in 2008.
