TV personalities Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz are opening up about their friendship post-split. "The Vanderpump" stars, who have been together for 12 years and married for six, announced that they had split in March.
However, since their breakup, they've maintained the same friendship groups. They've also attended mutual friends' weddings and continued to work together while filming the tenth season of "Vanderpump Rules."
Outside work and social events, the exes have also shared pictures of enjoying a pool day together. Now the pair are reflecting on their friendship post-divorce and how they are getting on well as friends.
Read on for more details.
Tom Schwartz Said 'We've Done A Good Job Divorcing Each Other'
The "Vanderpump" stars are letting their fans know where they stand in the months following their divorce.
"We're still hanging out, not in an unhealthy, exorbitant way, but we give each other space, boundaries," Schwartz shared on Friday's episode of Maloney's podcast (as per People magazine). "You're Gonna Love Me" "We're still buddies, we still check in on each other."
"I'm happy that we're still close," he added. "I think, relatively speaking, we've done a damn good job divorcing each other." While on the podcast, the pair admitted that their fans might not understand how they were able to stay friends while still going through a divorce.
"We hung out the other day, and you had posted on your story, and then I reposted it," Maloney shared. "And I think people were a little confused by that."
She continued, "We do see each other, but we were family for, you know, many, many, many years. And that's been a priority to us, I think, throughout this entire process to maintain."
The Couple Would Have Celebrated Their 6th Wedding Anniversary
The two also spoke up about their upcoming sixth anniversary, which they would have celebrated if they were still together. However, Maloney remarked that they might as well acknowledge the day since they'd technically still be married when it comes.
"I feel like I would be remiss not to acknowledge our anniversary this year because we are still technically married until later this year."
Schwartz reflected on their wedding, which was filmed for the show, calling it his "favorite wedding." He also added that he might have to go re-watch the episode. "Best wedding ever. My favorite wedding, objectively, and I've been to a lot," Schwartz added. "It was magical. I might go back and watch the episode — not drunk though, then I'll be a sad sack."
He also suggested that they find a new way to commemorate their anniversary after their divorce has been finalized. "Moving forward, since we're so close, we should just go and get drunk and have a delicious dinner on our anniversary," he said. "We can invite friends and stuff."
Tom Schwartz & Katie Maloney Announced Their Split In March
Maloney shared the news of her split on Instagram; she wrote, "After 12 years on an adventure through life together, Tom and I are ending our marriage. This ending is not met with resentment or animosity. No sides to choose from. We have deep admiration for one another that will always remain, and we cherish our friendship."
"Although we may be on different paths, we will continue to love and support one another's happiness," Maloney added. "Thank you for all the kind words and support."
Schwartz also announced the breakup on his Instagram page, revealing that Maloney was the one who decided to end things.
"Fully respect Katie's decision, and we've had healthy, productive conversations about it. It would be far sadder if she decided to stay with me while not happy," he wrote in part and added, "We had some of the most blissful, romantic, fun times humanly possible throughout our relationship."
The Couple Are Selling Their Los Angeles Home
The pair shared that they'd sell the home they shared while married. Maloney revealed that they'd sell it a day before their sixth anniversary to make the sale more poignant.
"It's been such a process," Maloney confessed of the sale of their joint property. "When you're selling a house, it's a totally different bucket of feelings."
Schwartz later added that, in retrospect, the house was a little too much for the couple who "skipped the starter house and went straight to our dream house."
'I'm back in an apartment complex. It's hard not to be bitter, and I gotta be honest, I don't need much," he said. "Living in a small apartment for which you have to pay $3,500 a month. It's hard not to be salty."
