In a previous interview with People magazine, Lily talked about growing up and commended her parents for their support and love during the period. She explained that while "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent" had some similarities with her life, she had a much better time.

The 23-year-old explained, "Of course, there are definitely similarities, obviously. But I think what really opened the character up for me, as an actor, was to start noting the differences. Seeing what would my life be like if my parents hadn't been this way, if they hadn't been as loving and supportive of me and of the person that I wanted to be."

She further shed light on her relationship with Hollywood her whole life and how she tried not to follow in the footsteps of her father, mother, and grandmother in the acting industry. Lily explained that while she wanted to be an actress as a child, it took her a while to do it finally.

While talking to Entertainment Tonight about the new actor in her family, Beckinsale revealed that she was trying not to meddle in her daughter's life and instead give her room to grow.

She revealed that she only supplied advice she was asked for and overall let the 23-year-old be independent. "I'm not calling her up and saying, 'Now, I've got a pearl of wisdom, get ready!'" she said. "It's been very important to me to be very independent in that respect."

The "Underworld" actress also talked about how Lily was reluctant to use her mother's fame to get ahead in the industry.

She said, "I think it's really important to her to have her own thing and blaze her own trail and do her own stuff. So as much as it's quite difficult not to kind of be poking into her business all the time, I really do respect that, and I admire how much she wants to be independent from us."
