'Guardians of the Galaxy' Star Lee Pace Reveals He Is Happily Married To Matthew Foley And Plans To Have Kids

"Captain Marvel" Actor Lee Pace has finally confirmed that he’s a married man. Pace recently had an interview where he revealed that he and Matthew Foley are officially married. He shared the story of how he and Foley met, crediting a mutual friend, Nick, for introducing them to each other.

Pace also shared that he and Foley are planning to expand their family with kids, stating that he would love to be a father. He had previously opened up about his sexuality in a 2018 interview, confirming that he has dated men and women in the past.

After the interview went viral, Pace stated that he has always tried to keep the media out of his personal life, especially as a queer celebrity. Regardless, many of his fans are happy that the actor has found someone to share his life with.

During an interview with GQ Hype, Pace confirmed that he’s officially a married man to the love of his life, Matthew Foley. He revealed that a mutual friend, Nick, had set up him and Foley several years ago.

The 43-year-old shared, “I said to my friend, Nick, ‘You know a lot of people, who do you have for me?’ And it luckily has worked out. What I’ll say about being married, it was once described to me as an endless sleepover with your weirdest friend. In our experience, that is absolutely true. If you’ve found one person you can be weird around, hold on tight.”

The “Bodies Bodies Bodies” actor also shared that he and the Thom Browne executive are seriously thinking about expanding their little family. He said, “I’d love to have kids. I think there’s nothing better than little kids running around.”

In early 2018, Pace had an interview with W magazine, during which he shared a little bit about his sexuality. The “Pushing Daisies” actor stated that he had dated both men and women in the past but refused to label himself as bisexual or gay.

At the time, Pace was preparing for his role in the Broadway revival of “Angels in America.” He said, “Our understanding of what it means to be gay is just so different. It’s culturally different. It’s just so much further down the road. It’s an interesting thing for me to think about in this moment while working on this play.”

Then, Pace stated that it was extremely important that gay actors play gay roles, which prompted the interviewer to ask the actor if he identifies as gay. In response, Pace said, “I’ve dated men. I’ve dated women. I don’t know why anyone would care. I’m an actor and I play roles. To be honest, I don’t know what to say — I find your question intrusive.”

After it was published, the article quickly went viral, and many fans pushed for Pace to confirm his sexuality. In response to the pressure, he tweeted, “In a recent phone interview, I was asked questions that I wasn’t expecting and found myself momentarily at a loss for the right words.”

The tweet continued, “My privacy is important to me, so I protect it. When interviewed by the media, I keep the focus on my work. As a member of the queer community, I understand the importance of living openly, being counted, and happily owning who I am. That’s how I’ve always lived my life.”

Pace reconfirmed that it has always been important to him to portray queer characters with dignity and mentioned some of his films where he played queer characters. Some of the films include “A Soldier’s Girl,” “The Normal Heart,” and “Angels in America.”

Pace and Foley are open with affection for each other, and they’ve been that way long before they married. The couple has featured on each other’s social media severally, and they always look so happy.

A good example was a post by Pace last August, which included several photos from a camping trip they took together, and he tagged his now-husband. For all of their birthdays, since they got together in 2018, they’ve posted tributes to each other on Instagram.
