The "Twilight" craze in the late 2000s had allegedly had celebrities like Taylor Swift trying to be a part of the movie's cast. The popular vampire romance films were adapted from Stephenie Meyer's novels and were first released in 2008.

Shortly after the first movie was released, the film gathered a cult following of which even celebrities were a part. "Bad Blood" artist Swift reportedly asked the director of the first movie's sequel, Chris Weitz, to include her in the cast of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."

The director recently revealed that he rejected the request because he thought the popular artist would steal the audience's focus from the actual storyline.

"Blank Space" artist Swift reportedly requested to be a part of one of the "Twilight" films in 2009, no matter how minor the role; however she was rejected. The director of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," Weitz, revealed that they had the same agent at the time, and she made the offer via the agent.

Weitz appeared in The Twilight EffectWith Ashley Greene and Melanie Howe podcast, hosted by Ashley Greene, a former "Twilight" cast member. He revealed the number of celebrities who requested to be part of the massive vampire romance franchise.

He recalled, "The craziest one of all those was to hear that Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard, and actually Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time. [Our agent said] 'Taylor would like to be in this movie — not because of you, but she's a Twi-hard. She would be someone at the cafeteria or the diner or whatever, but she just wants to be in this movie,'"

The director revealed that he had to refuse the request because, according to him, the massive star's cameo appearance would make the viewers unable to focus on anything else in the film. The "American Pie" director eventually expressed regret because he wasn't able to get closer to the artist but maintained it was for the good of the project.

Weitz said, "The hardest thing for me was to be like, the moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything. I kick myself for it, too, because I was like, 'Wow, I could've been hanging out with Taylor Swift."

He continued, "We could have been friends. She must have been like, 'Who is this jerk?' But sometimes you make decisions thinking this is for the best of the film."

Due to the loss of her masters when renowned artist manager Scooter Braun purchased her six-album catalog from Big Machine, Swift has been on a mission to re-record songs from her entire six albums. At the moment, the artist has released "Taylor's Version" of "Fearless" and "Red," intending to release the rest later on.

Swift's most recent re-recorded music is her hit track "Bad Blood," which was a part of her 2014 album "1989." The song was used in the popular animation "DC League of Super-Pets" and was reportedly released per the request of the movie's music supervisor, Season Kent.

As per Billboard, Kent recalled, "We approached her and said, 'We really love "Bad Blood" in the movie — do you have a Taylor version we could use?' She hadn't recorded it yet, but agreed to record it for us." The song in the movie was just a snippet, letting fans in on how the redone track sounds.

Besides the animation, the artist has re-recorded a number of other songs from the album for other series and movies. She recorded "Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version)" for "Spirit Untamed" as well as "This Love (Taylor's Version)" for "The Summer I Turned Pretty." "Where the Crawdads Sing," on the other hand, got a new original song, "Carolina," earlier this year.
