When Eminem dropped his surprise album “Music To Be Murdered By" last month, fans took issue with several songs including one that appeared to be aimed at Ariana Grande. In the song “Unaccommodating," there's a lyric which many said made light of the Manchester bombing in 2017 that took place after her concert. Music fans were fuming and took to social media to air out their frustrations about the "insensitive" lyrics that state: “But I’m contemplating yelling ‘bombs away’ on the game/Like I’m outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting.” The 47-year-old also added an explosion sound effect over the lyrics.
Listeners labeled the Ariana Grande diss as "disgusting" and accused the rapper of making light of the terrorist attack, but Hailie Jade didn't just sit back and let people talk ill about her dad. She took to social media and seemingly addressed the controversial lyrics of her father's music head-on. Weeks later, Eminem stood his ground on the album and stated that people needed to "listen more closely." Writing an open letter to his fans, Hailie Jade's dad explained his reasoning for the murder-themed album. Stating that our society has become "obsessed" and "fascinated" with murder, Eminem said, "I thought why not make a sport of it, and murder over beats?" Warning "this album was not made for the squeamish," the rapper stated the lyrics were designed to "shock the conscience" and hopes they'll "cause positive action."
