NeNe Leakes Posted Heartfelt Birthday Tribute To Late Husband Gregg Leakes: 'Wishing You A Heavenly Birthday Today'

'Real Housewives of Atlanta' alum NeNe Leakes released a birthday message for her late husband, Gregg Leakes. The former real estate agent would have been 67 on Tuesday; however, he lost his life late last year to a reoccurring case of colon cancer.

A few months after he passed, NeNe moved on with fashion designer, Nyonisela Sioh, apparently with Gregg's blessing. The actress revealed that shortly before he died, the 66-year-old gave her his blessing to move on and get into a new relationship. She posted Nyonisela on her birthday in December but didn't indicate when they got involved.

Months after her new beau came into the picture, NeNe was hit with a lawsuit accusing her of being involved with Nyonisela before he separated from his estranged wife, Malomine Tehmeh-Sioh. Malomine claimed she was humiliated by the announcement and demanded a $100,000 compensation.

Reality star NeNe just posted an emotional message to her late husband Gregg on the real estate investor's birthday. He would have turned 67 on Tuesday, and NeNe made it known that he was loved and sorely missed. She posted a picture of the duo together on Instagram, where she hugged a sitting Gregg from behind.

The actress wrote, "Missing the man that always had a plan! Today is a tuff [sic] one…every year on this date; we would be out celebrating you! I can't believe we are wishing you a heavenly Birthday today. I feel like you went somewhere, and you'll be back."

The 55-year-old closed the heartfelt tribute by writing that she loved and missed him every day and wished him a happy birthday once again.

NeNe and Gregg were together for 25 years until he passed away in September last year. In 2018, the former real estate agent was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. After undergoing a strenuous six months of chemotherapy, the reality star revealed that the cancer was gone.

However, in June 2021, the disease came back apparently stronger than before because three months after Gregg announced its return, he passed away. The family released a statement that period to notify the public of his death.

The statement read, "After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones, and wife NeNe Leakes."

Three months after Gregg passed, NeNe was seen with Nyonisela. The reality star shared pictures of the duo on her birthday in December and seemed to be well on her way to moving on. It isn't certain when the "Glee" actress and Nyonisela started dating.

In a conversation with The Shaderoom in December, the 55-year-old revealed that she got Gregg's approval to move on and find happiness before he passed on. The 66-year-old reportedly told her to keep on smiling and congratulated her next beau in advance.

She said, "I will love Gregg forever & ever! Grieving is hard! Even harder & depressing alone. Gregg and I had a very tearful conversation before his passing. His words to me were, 'be happy, keep smiling, and he who finds you has found a good one.'"

In addition to the volley of emotions NeNe had gone through due to her husband's passing, the reality star faced another share of drama a few months after getting involved with her new beau. In June, the couture suit king's estranged wife, Malomine filed a lawsuit against the 55-year-old, blaming her for destroying her marriage.

According to Malomine, NeNe was already involved with Nyonisela at the time of their marriage. The suit asked for a $100,000 compensation from NeNe for "criminal conversation" as well as "alienation of affections."

Malomine claimed she faced disgrace, humiliation, and embarrassment after NeNe posted her birthday pictures with Nyonisela. The suit alleged, "As a result of the adulterous relationship between [Leakes] and [Sioh], the love and affection which existed between [Tehmeh-Sioh] and [Sioh] was alienated, estranged, and destroyed."

The 55-year-old, on her part, claimed that the charges were false and that she was not a husband stealer. She went Live on Instagram not long after the accusations were made and said, "[There's] a lot going on in the world. I'm already out here a husband stealer, and this is too much. Ain't nobody out here stealing husbands. Are they? I would never."
