A New York City dog owner’s worst nightmare recently became a reality.

According to a resident of NYC, her small dog ingested marijuana while on a potty walk...and this isn't the only time this has happened!

We spoke to Quinn Young -- a fashion agent in the Big Apple -- who owns a 2-and-a-half-pound teacup chihuahua named Rumple.

Meet Rumple,  The Teacup Chihuahua

Quinn exclusively told The Blast after a short walk, her tiny pup -- who is not even a year old -- had to be rushed to the veterinarian after eating marijuana off of a New York City Street. Quinn lives in the Flatiron District which runs from 18th Street to 27th Street, between Lexington Ave. and Sixth Ave.

About six weeks ago, she was walking Rumple around Sixth Ave. (14-23rd streets) when the incident happened.

She didn’t see Rumple ingest the marijuana, but noticed the little pup became very lethargic and was beginning to lose muscle control afterwards.

In fact, Quinn just so happened to take a photo of Rumple and her friend right before they realized the dog needed medical attention.

The image of her dog so out of sorts was “really, extremely scary.” Shockingly, this kind of thing is starting to happen a lot in New York.

Quinn told us, “New York City is not super nice right now. There’s a big homeless population.” The fashion agent admitted that she’s seen joints and syringes on the ground while walking. Adding, “[It] deters you from wanting to live there. It’s especially scary for young kids who are around.

Once Quinn and Rumple arrived at the vet’s office, the doctor knew right away the dog was high. They even noted, “we’ve seen a lot of this.”

That's right. It appears several dog owners have suffered the same issue, with their pets ingesting weed right off of the streets.

In this case, Rumple had to get fluids and blood tests, which cost Quinn $600.00.

Rumple Fell Victim To Marijuana Not Once But Twice

Luckily, the little guy was able to go home and sleep off the remainder of the pot. While both Quinn and Rumple made it through the scarring incident, she had no idea it would happen all over again.

In a mind-blowing repeat, about three weeks ago, Quinn’s mother -- Kelly Young -- was watching Rumple while she was out of town in Europe. Once again, Rumple was taken out for a routine walk to go potty. He once again came across marijuana on the ground and ingested it.

Since Quinn was out of town, she’s not sure if Rumple ate a joint, an edible or marijuana leaves. Her mom had to rush Rumple to the vet again. Shockingly, the vet told Quinn’s mother that Rumple was the second dog that day who came in for ingesting marijuana.

Again, the pooch was given fluids and blood tests were done leaving Quinn with another $600 vet bill.

She explained that had she left Rumple overnight at the vet’s office, it would’ve cost her $3500.00.

So, how is this possible you ask? Well, according to a recent report from Daily Mail, this area of NYC is having major issues. Police say the recent increase in activity is centered on West 21st Street between 8th and 9th avenues. Per the outlet, Manhattan’s trendy Chelsea neighborhood has become a “24-hour drug and sex den.” Unfortunately, the activity is happening in plain sight of a school.

Fox 5 spoke to parents whose children attend the school. They claim their children have become exposed to nudity, sex acts and drug use.

Quinn’s advice for dog owners who are in the Sixth to Ninth Avenue areas is to be “extra careful. Go specifically to certain areas where you feel comfortable walking and is clean.”

Bottom line...Pet Owners Beware!
