The Bury A Friend singer is facing a particular problem currently, one not many outside of fame have to be concerned with...or is it?

Fans of Eilish are attempting to impersonate her, and posting their videos online, for the world to see. Her unique style in color, size, and aesthetic, is easily recognizable and attainable. Which makes this instance with a fan even more disturbing and thought-provoking.

On January 30, Eilish takes to her Instagram account to call attention to a fan, begging them to stop.

Her post included pictures of impersonators, going full out in the dyed hair and full on look. It reads "please stop doing this shit. it is not safe for you and it is mean to the people who don't know any better", then adds "you make me look bad."

She captions one of the photos with a joke, “Also soooo disrespectful that you’d go out pretending to be me wearing THIS”.

But she has a point. What about the "people who don't know any better"?

And who's to say many people haven't already been fooled by these impersonators? Who's to say you won't in the future, fall victim to one of these coat-tailers?

In a reply Instagram post, one of the videographers replies to Eilish's previous post,

"You’ve been commenting on the video shoot I did yesterday, and I’d like to respond. I gathered a crowd and had an acrobat pretending to be Billie do a huge cheer flip, which revealed it was not Billie. I had absolutely no intention of disrespecting Billie. I’m a big fan, like everyone else. "

It continues, "I’ve never done a celebrity impersonation video before, but they’re pretty common so I thought it would be fun to add my own acrobatic twist. Plus it was an opportunity to showcase incredible cheer artists who are often overlooked. I felt it was completely harmless since at no time in the video are we pretending that she is actually Billie."

"I have reached out directly to Billie and Maggie and apologized, and I will not post the video without their permission. I hope this clarifies everything.", in a finishing statement.
