Mackenzie McKee is still reeling from the loss of her mother Angie Douthit after a brave battle with cancer, and on her first trip to NYC without her mom, she discovered a little memento left by her guardian angel. The “Teen Mom OG” star shared the discovery as she traveled to New York for the first time since her mother’s death. After arriving and unpacking, McKee revealed she discovered a gift that her mom had somehow managed to sneak into her bag, and the gift immediately brought her to tears.
McKee revealed the gift, which was a wallet containing a photo of the late Angie, with a special note inscribed on the back.
“I have been to New York countless times but never without my momma. It was her favorite place and we always had the time of our lives there together. This trip was hard. I cried and was lonely but also spent time being thankful for these times with her. I opened my suit case after arriving and who knows how this wallet got here but it did. Mom, you figured out how to come with me. Thank you.”
On the photo was a note written by Angie that reminded her reality star daughter she will never be alone.
“Mickie,
I am so proud of you. You are a true overcomer. You made me a better mom. I can’t wait to see all you do in life. Love you to the moon and back, Mom.”
The wallet included with the note also had an inspirational mother/daughter message written on the inside:
“You’re capable of achieving anything you put your mind to,” part of the message read.
It may have been Mackenzie McKee’s first trip to NYC without her mother, but she definitely wasn’t doing it alone because the fans were sending their love across the world to give her strength during the trying time.
“What a amazing thing to find im aure she put that there knowing your first trip without her would be hard so beautiful thanks for sharing,” one fan wrote about the note Angie left.
“Oh wow, such a heart touching moment!! She is always with you, don’t ever forget that! And you can always talk to her anytime you need to. She will hear you,I can promise you that,” another supporter wrote to the reality star.
