Zayn Malik's Rendition Of One Direction's 'Night Changes' Causes Stir On Social Media

Zayn Malik is blowing the minds of fans away!

The "One Direction" alum reminded fans of what used to be when he did a solo rendition of the group's hit single, "Night Changes," from their fourth studio album. This will not be the first time that Malik will remind fans of the "good old days" as he cut his hair in a style reminiscent of the group's days together earlier this year.

Seven years after parting ways with One Direction because he wanted "some private time out of the spotlight," Malik sent fans into a frenzy after he shared a video of himself singing "Night Changes" on Instagram. The monochrome clip showed the 29-year-old singing the coming-of-age song while rocking overalls, a big neckpiece, and a bandana.

The father-of-one's tattoos, including a checkered flag, flower, and ying-yang sign, were on full display as he rested his chin on his arm. Directioners, as they are fondly called, were quick to flood his comment section with supportive messages, with one (gushing), "Omg, my ears are blessed [love struck and fire emojis]."

Another fan wrote, "zayn singing 1d songs in 2022 is literally the best thing could ever happen,"[sic] and a third claimed that hearing Malik's rich vocals made them cry. A fourth user wanted to know if the singer had something to share, while a fifth screamed about their love for him.

Yet another commenter tagged their friend, wanting to know why the rendition was "breaking and healing my heart all at the same time?!" A seventh viewer yelled that "Night Changes" had aged like fine wine, and another concerned fan noted the possibility of Malik missing his former boy band.

The 2010 "The X Factor" solo contestant previously elicited a similar response when he unveiled his new haircut in February. The Blast observed that the "Dusk Till Dawn" singer uploaded a pic of the' do to his Instagram page and received a mixed reaction from his followers and fans. However, they all agreed on how he looked almost like he did during his time with One Direction. 

While one fan wrote, "Is it just me or is this giving the One direction vibes at peak," another echoed, "Looking like 1D days with the cut." The post has garnered seven million likes and counting.

Malik made headlines in June following the no-filter comments that ex-bandmate, Liam Payne, made about him in an interview. The Blast shared that during his conversation with YouTuber Logan Paul, Payne revealed that he had numerous reasons for disliking Malik. Unfortunately, Payne faced a backlash that prompted him to tweet in his defense. In his words:

"They mentioned a specific incident involving Zayn which I responded to  - but listening back maybe I didn't articulate myself as well as I could have."

In a follow-up tweet, the 28-year-old explained that he meant no ill-will towards his former bandmate, adding that "there will always be things we disagree on but that I will always, always be on his side." The tweets quickly caught the attention of Twitter users, with some people asking him to go and apologize to Malik instead of tweeting. One person wrote that Payne's comments were not okay as he "insulted" Malik, his relationship, family, personality, and upbringing.

Another user pointed out that the "The Strip That Back" singer was unapologetic because he could have ignored the question as it came from "zayn's number one hater." A third person accused Payne of "gaslighting" the people who saw the interview. However, many other fans have remained unshakable in supporting Payne as they claimed to love and respect him even more. Someone reminded the "Drag Me Down" artist that he did not need to explain anything to people who "know nothing."

Logan and Malik's relationship deteriorated after a 2020 altercation between the YouTuber's brother Jake and the latter following the Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury II fight. It turned out that after the fight ended, Malik allegedly said he did not want to hang out with the Paul brothers, which led them to harass him outside his hotel room. Logan spent some time outside Malik's door trying to get the agitated "Story of My Life" singer to come outside and talk to him— all to no avail.
