Are Britney Spears and Madonna Making New Music Together?

Singer Britney Spearsis already working on a collaboration with Elton John, but is she working on a collaboration with Madonna too?

The two are so close that they even shared a smooch at her wedding, so it seems like it’s definitely possible that the two will hit the studio together.

One Britney fan found a possible collaboration in the database for the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers and shared the news on Twitter.

It looks like there could be a “3” mix in the works, as Britney Spears and Madonna are both listed as performers on the track along with a host of other musicians in the ASCAP database. Universal Music Publishing, who will also distribute Britney’s duet with Sir Elton John, is also listed as one of the publishers, but there is one thing notably missing from the document: a date.

It’s not clear when this entry was created in their database, but if it was recent, it could be a sign that Britney is about to make a career comeback.

Many fans hoped this was the case, with one fan asking, “OMG what does this mean?! On the right, it says ‘The Singles Collection-3.’ Is Britney releasing another singles collection album featuring remixes?!” Another fan replied, “Omg that’s a good idea. Maybe a duets album with a touch of revenge for good measure…”

“It says the singles collection on the right side… is this old and was it meant for that??” another fan asked. “I mean ‘Telephone’ with Lady Gaga was meant for the singles collection before it was scrapped.” Another fan replied, “Good catch.”

It's definitely possible that this is old news and the collaboration is no longer in the works, but since Britney and Madonna got friendly at her wedding, it's definitely possible that the two might be releasing new music in the near future.

The two pop stars previously collaborated on their 2003 hit single “Me Against the Music” and are still close almost two decades later. Back in June, Britney posted a photograph of the two sharing a smooch at her wedding. However, it's not the first time that the two have shared a steamy kiss that sent their followers wild.

In 2003, the two singers drove fans crazy when they shared a kiss at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards alongside Christina Aguilera. That same year, the “Gimme More” singer told CNN that “I’ve never kissed a woman before,” adding, “I didn’t know it was going to be that long and everything.”

When asked if she would share another open-mouth kiss again, she said, “No, I would not do it,” before clarifying, “Maybe with Madonna.”

Britney hasn't talked about Madonna in a while, but she did finally break her silence on her duet with Elton John earlier this week in a since-deleted Instagram post.

In a since-deleted Instagram post from earlier this week, Britney shared a piece of “Hold Me Closer” cover art that was created by a fan.

Britney began her post by seemingly lamenting her stifling 13-year conservatorship, writing: “Conservative Diplomatic Voice … I had everything but broken inside !!!!! I never wanted to be the girls who show their bodies !!! BULL---- !!! Try being covered for 4 months with no keys !!! I have the right to express my body, mouth ? , eyes ? , heart ❤️, and feet ??and show whatever I want !!!”

She continued: “My body was manipulated, abused, and torn by people not my friends !!! I have beautiful friends ? who give me joy and lift my a-- higher everyday ?‍♀️ … if my shallow smile approach offends anyone which I only have learned to COPY !!! So sorry !!! Psss come on ICONS who we be fooling ????! Psss name of song is HOLD ME CLOSER ?? !!! Pssss OWN OWN OWN OWN !!!”

Britney concluded her post: “And thank you so much for this incredible art @monalisaney81… I appreciate this and all of your support it means so much to me !!! I can’t wait for you all to hear what we’ve been working on ????.”
