Will Michelle Branch Demand Child Support & Custody From Alleged Cheating Husband In Divorce?

Michelle Branch has called it quits with her husband of three years.

The singer, who rose to fame in the early 2000s, has officially filed for divorce from her husband, Patrick Carney.

The drummer for The Black Keys allegedly cheated on the singer after she had given birth to their second child.

The Blast obtained legal documents outlining the terms of their divorce in a Tennessee court.

Branch cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce.

Per the legal documents, “Wife states that such irreconcilable differences have arisen between the parties that the parties are no longer capable of resuming their marital relationship and living together as Husband and Wife and, therefore, Wife petitions the court for an Absolute Divorce.”

Branch anticipates that she and her soon-to-be ex-husband will enter into a “Marital Dissolution Agreement regarding their marital estate and an Agreed Permanent Parenting Plan for the care and custody of their minor children.”

As previously mentioned, the former couple share two young children, Rhys James Carney and Willie Jacquet Carney.

The “Everywhere” singer is requesting the famous drummer pays her child support, legal fees and she wants custody of their children. She will allow Carney to have time with the kids.

The estranged couple will need to complete a parenting court, which is required in all cases out of that particular court.

The Blast previously reported on Branch getting arrested after slapping Carney due to alleged infidelity.

On Thursday, August 11, cops were called to their Nashville, TN. home for a possible domestic disturbance. The “Everywhere” singer admitted to slapping Carney “one to two times.”

The domestic disturbance came after she accused him of cheating, which she tweeted about on Twitter.

She published a tweet accusing him of cheating on her while she was at home with their six-month-old baby; however, less than an hour after the tweet went live she deleted it.

When police arrived at their home, Carney didn’t have any visible injuries and Branch was taken into custody.

She was released early on a $1,000.00 bond given that she is breastfeeding their six-month-old daughter.

TMZ broke the separation news with Branch telling the outlet, “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family. The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”

Over the weekend, the singer posted a slew of throwback photos honoring her debut studio album, “The Spirit Room.”

She captioned the carousel of pics, “The Spirit Room came out 21 years ago today. ✨ You’re legally allowed to drink and listen to it now. Oh, the things I could tell this girl. I’m overwhelmed by the support ?.”

A large amount of her verified followers commented on the post.

“100% support,” someone commented.

Another replied, “such a beautiful song… Supporting you 100% every day all day❤️❤️❤️❤️ i’m pretty excited to share the tour.”
