Tyler Baltierra is working hard to lose weight and gain muscle and taking his Instagram followers along for the ride. The "Teen Mom" star, 30, has been posting his fitness progress for the past two years as he transforms his body. In a recent post, he showed before and after type pics captioned, "OFFICIALLY DONE with this cut & I managed to drop 24 POUNDS while maintaining the strength I built while I was gaining!"

Sharing His Progress Along the Way

His caption continued, "Top pic: end of MARCH (203 lbs at the end of my bulk). Bottom pic: NOW (179 lbs at the end of my cut). I'm pretty happy with the results. It makes me even more pumped to see how the next cut goes after I'm done bulking again!" He went on to explain that he decided to "shift my goals a little & focus more on aesthetics/muscle building for this next bulk cycle, rather than strength building (like I was doing before.)" Baltierra said he still has a long way to go before reaching his "ultimate goal" but will continue to post his fitness journey to keep him accountable.

His Instagram Followers are Supportive and Curious

Comments on the post were supportive, and there were some questions in the mix as well. One follower asked, "I'm wondering what a 'cut' is? Do you purposely bulk then try to drop and lean out?" Baltierra answered, "a 'cut' is essentially just eating less calories (calorie deficit) than what you were eating while you were 'bulking' (calorie surplus). The purpose for a 'bulk' cycle depends on your goals but it's always to GAIN (either for strength/power or muscle size/bodybuilding aesthetics). The purpose for a 'cut' is to lose as much fat as possible BUT while simultaneously maintaining the muscle mass built during the bulking cycle. In simpler terms: Bulk to gain muscle &/or size. Cut to reveal all the muscle you gained lol hope that helps!"

His Fitness Journey in Pics

In June, the father of four posted a side-by-side shot of his progress. On the right side is a pic taken March 21 and, on the left, a photo taken June 1. "This cut is coming along nicely & I'm still maintaining most of my strength in all my lifts!" he captioned the snap. He went on to say, "I'm thinking another 2 years of this same consistency & I'll hopefully be looking close to my goal. All I know is I ain't stopping now...this is still just the beginning for me."

Baltierra has been documenting his progress since last year. In June 2021, he posted a side-by-side pic captioning it, "YEAR 1 DOWN! 165lbs on the left (Me in 2020 when I started) & 199lbs on the right side (Me Now) & still in the process of shredding my fat % down. My goal was to gain as much muscle mass as I could with the least amount of fat as possible. I'm not exactly where I want to be yet, but I have to remind myself to appreciate the journey & acknowledge where I started from."

Baltierra, known for his time on the MTV hit shows, "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom," shares four children with his wife, Catelynn Lowell - Novalee, 7, Vaeda, 3, and Rya, 11 months, as well as Carly, 13, who they placed for adoption while on "16 and Pregnant." The couple met as teenagers and have been together ever since. They got married in 2015 and will be celebrating seven years of marriage this month.
