Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana is hale, hearty, and ready to hit the stage. The artist is a famous music icon whose band, Santana, rose to fame in the early 1960s. His music is an interesting blend of both Rock and Roll and Latin American Jazz.
The “Maria Maria” artist previously went on a world tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. During the Miraculous Supernatural 2022 Tour, Santana collapsed on stage while performing in Michigan. The incident shocked and worried the concertgoers; however, the star’s management revealed that he was only exhausted and dehydrated.
As a result of the health scare, several of the shows scheduled for the tour were postponed per doctor’s orders so that the Mexican-born rocker could recover. The incident occurred over a month ago, and Santana was recently seen in downtown New York looking as healthy as can be.
Carlos Santana Was Spotted In New York
Weeks after collapsing on the Detroit stage, Santana is ready to continue his world tour. The guitarist looked and moved around without apparent drawbacks from his previous medical incident. The 74-year-old is slated to perform in Connecticut after taking a break from the tour.
TMZ produced pictures of the legendary rocker in downtown NYC smiling as he went about his business. When complimented on his looks, Santana merely brushed the comment off by saying it was “a reflection of your light.”
On July 5, Santana dropped to a dead faint in the middle of his performance in Michigan and sent several stage hands and staff running to aid the 74-year-old. His recent vibrant appearance indicates that the incident was not a major one.
The Legendary Singer Collapsed Due To Exhaustion
At the time of the incident, Santana was playing at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkson. After the legendary guitarist was rushed off stage and attended to by medical personnel in the hospital, his team revealed that the issue was not a serious one.
According to Santana’s team, the artist’s body collapsed on him due to dehydration and heat exhaustion. The rocker’s manager, Michael Vrionis, confirmed that the 74-year-old was doing well after being taken to the emergency room for a health evaluation.
Santana took time out to update his fans on Facebook and reassure them about his health status. At the time, he wrote, “Thank you for your precious prayers. Just taking it easy. Forgot to eat and drink water, so I dehydrated and passed out. Blessings and miracles to you all.”
Carlos Santana Postponed His Concerts
The 74-year-old is currently in the middle of the Miraculous Supernatural Tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. Before the incident, they were scheduled to appear in a show at The Pavilion in Pennsylvania. The show, along with others, was reportedly postponed.
To ward off similar occurrences in his following events, the guitarist postponed six shows on his Miraculous Supernatural 2022 Tour. The artist’s manager, Vrionis, made the announcement revealing that the move was made “out of an abundance of caution for the artist’s health” because “[doctors] have recommended that Mr. Santana gets rest to recuperate fully.”
The shows affected at the time included scheduled performances in Dallas, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, and others. Santana’s management apologized for the inconvenience but maintained that the artist’s health is their “number one concern.”
He Was On His North American Tour
The Mexican-born guitarist started touring North America with the rest of his band on the Miraculous Supernatural 2022 tour earlier this year. The band initially became popular between the late 1969s and early ‘70s.
Their biggest hits include “Oye Como Va,” “Black Magic Woman,” and “The Game of Love.” Due to his ability to play dexterous runs, long sustained notes, and Latin Rhythms, Santana is known as one of the most talented artists of all time.
The popular artist was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 after decades in the music business. Rolling Stone also ranked him as 20th on the 100 greatest guitarists of all time list compiled by the platform.
As a result of a positive COVID test, Santana and the rest of his band had to cancel several shows last February. In another health-related issue, the 74-year-old had to cancel performances in Las Vegas. He reportedly underwent an unscheduled and unspecified heart procedure.
