There are new bombshell reports that Alec Baldwin had to have pulled the trigger of the gun on the set of the Western film "Rust" back in October, which injured director Joel Souza and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

According to a new FBI report, they concluded that the "30 Rock" actor must have pulled the trigger when he was holding the gun, despite his claim that he didn't.

On Friday, ABC News published the findings of the FBI report, stating that although Baldwin said he believed he was holding a “cold gun,” the gun actually contained live ammunition. How real bullets ended up on a movie set is still under investigation.

The FBI conducted accidental discharge testing that the model of firearm used in the shooting, a .45 Long Colt caliber F.lli Pietta single-action revolver could not have been fired without the trigger being pulled, according to the FBI report.

The report stated that the gun “could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger” with the hammer in the quarter and half-cock positions. With the hammer fully cocked, the FBI says the gun “could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger while the working internal components were intact and functional.”

The report continued to explain that, with the hammer de-cocked on a loaded chamber, the gun was able to detonate a primer "without a pull of the trigger when the hammer was struck directly," which is reportedly normal for this type of revolver.

However, it directly contradicts the account Alec Baldwin gave to ABC News last December when he broke his silence on the shooting mere weeks after it occurred.

Alec Baldwin Claims 'I Didn't Pull The Trigger'

On Thursday, December 2, 2021, ABC news aired an exclusive interview with news anchor George Stephanopoulos. At the beginning of a teaser clip, Baldwin is seemingly in tears as he talks about the death of Hutchins, who he says was loved by everyone on set.

“She was someone who was loved by everyone who worked with [her], and liked by everyone who worked with [her], and admired,” Baldwin said. “I mean, even now… I find it hard to believe that [it happened]. It just doesn’t seem real to me.”

One of the highlights of the interview came when Stephanopoulos asks Baldwin about the scene in question. Stephanopoulos said, “It wasn’t in the script for the trigger to be pulled.”

“Well, the trigger wasn’t pulled,” Baldwin responds. “I didn’t pull the trigger.”

Stephanopoulos asks, “So you never pulled the trigger?”

“No, no, no, no,” Baldwin says. “I would never point a gun at anyone and pull the trigger at them, never.”

Stephanopoulos also asks, “How did a real bullet get on that set?”

“I have no idea,” Baldwin replies. “Someone put a live bullet in a gun. A bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property.”

On January 14 of this year, The Blast reported that Alec Baldwin had voluntarily surrendered his iPhone to comply with a search warrant made by the Santa Fe police department as they continue their criminal investigation into the shooting. The sheriff's office confirmed to ABC News that they had obtained the FBI's recent report and other documents related to the shooting earlier this month.

A postmortem report obtained by the network shows that the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator has classified Hutchins' death as an accident.

"Death was caused by a gunshot wound of the chest. Review of available law enforcement reports showed no compelling demonstration that the firearm was intentionally loaded with live ammunition on set," the report says. "Based on all available information, including the absence of obvious intent to cause harm or death, the manner of death is best classified as accident.”

Even though Alec Baldwin turned over his phone to police in Suffolk, New York, detectives in Santa Fe say that they are still waiting for Baldwin's phone records as part of their investigation.

No one has yet been criminally charged in the death of Halyna Hutchins.
