Are you a fan of the hit weight-loss reality show The Biggest Loser? Are you excited for this reality show's return tonight, January 28th for its 18th season?
The Biggest Loser hasn't been on television in four years, since 2016. The basic format of the show is going to be similar, but the four year break will definitely bring some new elements with it.
In an interview with Heavy, a representative from the show told them exactly how the process works, and how long the contestants are on the ranch.

Heavy states that, "A rep from the USA Network tells us that the season 18 contestants were at the Biggest Loser ranch for 11 weeks during filming, though the amount of time may vary slightly by season based on how many contestants there are total."
That means that in 11 weeks, almost 3 months, these contestants are working out and trying to lose as much weight as they possibly can. That's a whole lot to do in very little time.

They also stated that, "Each week or so, one contestant is sent home and for the revamped version, it is no longer based on voting. This time around, the person who is eliminated is simply the person who has lost the lowest percentage of his or her body weight."
Good news for the show, it seems. Hopefully that will seem more fair when we see the show live. That way the person who wins is really the person who lost the most of their weight along the way.

There is still a 250,000 grand prize for the winner who loses the most weight. However, there is also an at-home prize for the contestant who loses the most after they're eliminated.
After criticisms that the show doesn't care about people's health, and worries more about losing a lot of weight in a little bit of time, more care has been put into place this season.
Heavy states that, "The contestants will be receiving regular blood work panels to check other markers for overall health, like cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose, etc. Secondly, there will be more aftercare in place, a gym membership, a nutritionist, and a support group, all set up for the contestants free of charge for when they are eliminated from the show."
It seems like the show is really taking a step in a better direction. Now that they're focusing more on health, they're likely to find better success this time around.
"What is really exciting for me is being a part of the show, this new reboot and new season, is that we're trying to approach it from every level," the host Bop Harper told the 2020 Television Critics Association. "We want to give them everything that they can use to succeed."
Check out the new episode, on tonight.
