Ex-NFL star Frank Gore has found himself in troubled waters following an altercation with an unidentified woman in a hotel in Atlantic City.
The former running back concluded his 16-year career with a staggering 16,000 rushing yards. Since his retirement, Gore has turned to professional celebrity boxing, winning his first official fight in the fourth round in May 2022 after he had earlier participated in a celebrity match in December 2021.
However, his recent career switch has been marred by the confrontation with the unknown woman. According to reports, law authorities have charged the former football player with simple assault for the incident that occurred last month.
Frank Gore Charged With Assault
According to reports obtained by Fox News, Atlantic City Police have charged Gore with simple assault following an altercation on July 31 in the Havana Tower of the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City. The incident was said to have been between the former NFL star and an unidentified lady and involved a brazen show of violence on the part of Gore.
During the incident, Gore allegedly pulled the woman down the 59th floor of the hotel’s hallway. She had no clothing on at the time of the incident, which involved the ex-football player dragging her by her hair. It was not confirmed if there was a prior argument between the two before the altercation started.
“Officers arrived to find the victim, a 28-year-old woman from Miami, Florida, speaking with hotel security,” the local authorities shared in an announcement. “The victim did not exhibit signs of injury, and complaints were not filed at the time. However, an ensuing investigation resulted in Franklin Gore being charged with simple assault related to the domestic violence incident.”

The police release also asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Atlantic City Police Department Criminal Investigations Section. It is unknown if any of the hotel guests or security got to see the incident as it happened in the early hours of the morning.
Gore was initially issued a summons pending a future court date. Per Fox News, the former running back is now due in court for a hearing in mid-October as per the documents filed by the authorities. A. there was also no information about Gore’s relationship with the woman or whether she plans on filing extra charges as the court documents held no further details.
In the meantime, Gore has gone low-key about the incident, having shared no information with any publication or on his social media pages.
Frank Gore Boxing Debut
Months before the incident, Gore participated in a professional boxing match in the co-main event of Gamebred Boxing 1 in Mississippi, marking his official debut in the game. In the fourth round of the bout, Gore’s right cross knocked out Yaya Olorunsola, earning him a well-earned victory.
The newbie boxer also celebrated his birthday the same day and took to Twitter later to bask in his limelight by sharing a clip of the fight’s final seconds.
He captioned the Tweet, “Today was a great day!!! Want to thank my team for all the hard work!!” adding a praying hands emoji.
In December 2021, Gore fought former NBA All-Star Deron Williams in an exhibition match where he lost by a split decision. Before the game, Williams had spent five seasons playing with the Nets and last played in the NBA in 2017.
His Legacy In The NFL
Gore leaves behind an NFL legacy of 16,000 career running yards coming in third place after Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith. On June 2, 2022, Gore announced his retirement after signing a one-day contract with the San Francisco 49ers. However, he still intends to have a stint off the field with the club.
“I love looking at talent,” Gore said, per New York Post. “I love evaluating talent, and I love ball. And they know that I know football players, what it’s supposed to take to be a football player.”
Gore holds the league record for the most games played by a running back. His career was also recognized for its longevity, a unique quality for a player in his position. In 2020, he was also selected for the NFL’s 2010 All-Decade Team.
