Lana Del Rey's fashion sense is classic, vintage, and thoroughly inspired, just like her music. Although the alternative queen left the 2020 Grammy Awards with no trophy in her hand, one thing did have everyone talking - her dress. Del Rey revealed that she picked up her red carpet dress at the mall and only had it slightly tailored at the waist. She had another dress picked out for the occasion but saw this under $600 look and made a last-minute switch.

The 34-year-old told a reporter that she was shopping for her boyfriend, Sean Larkin, when she spotted the dress. “I had another dress and then my boyfriend and I were getting a belt for him at the mall and I saw this and I loved it, so this is a last-minute dress,” she told Lauren Zima of Entertainment Tonight.

Fans figured out that it's a Aidan Mattox gown and it retails for around $600. At a ceremony where the outfits worn usually costs thousands of dollars, we have to give Del Rey props for such a steal.

On red carpets, we often find that celebrities don outfits that they were either paid to wear or that were loaned to them by designers. But in this case, Lana Del Rey decided to be independent and put her own personal style at the forefront. We're glad that she did because she was one of the best-dressed musicians at the entire ceremony, and she only needed to make minor adjustments.

“I tailored it right there,” she said, pointing at her waist. “So, you know, a little mix and match. … We’re making it all work," she said in the interview.

After the 2020 Grammys, the hashtag "scammys" started trending on Twitter. "Lana" was also the second trending topic. Why? Fans were very, very angry over the fact that Del Rey didn't walk away with a single award. 18-year-old Billie Eilish walked away with five awards, including several of the same categories Del Rey was nominated in. But it seems that a lot of the public believed that Del Rey, and Ariana Grande, deserved a few of these wins. People weren't afraid to express their unhappiness with the outcome on social media.

Many have pointed out that Lana Del Rey has been cultivating the current "alternative" sound that many young girls like Billie Eilish were inspired by. Even still, she has yet to be properly awarded for it. Del Rey's album, "Norman F***ing Rockwell," was nominated for album of the year and has received critical acclaim ever since its release. Many critics are saying that it is her most solid and overall best work yet.

The fact that Del Rey appears to be getting better and better every year should keep fans hopeful that she'll walk away with one of those Grammy awards some day.
