Pattie Mallette, Biebers mom, talks about her traumatic experiences of being abused in her book, Nowhere but Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom. She goes into detail about being sexually abuse by a friend's grandfather and a male babysitter. The abuse lasted so long it seemed to be a normal part of life. In her book, she writes,

“I was sexually violated so many times that as the years went by it began to feel normal,”

And goes on to say, “It’s a strange marriage—knowing something is wrong yet at the same time finding it familiar and commonplace.”

Mallette's own momma kicked her out, and she gave birth to Justin while living in a home for pregnant teens. It did cross her mind to abort him, but she couldn't go through with it. She felt like he needed to be born. I'm sure she doesn't regret that one bit.

Being his mother's only son, Justin sure does mean a lot to her. Shortly before Justin was born, Mallette attempted suicide. After the suicide attempt, Mallette became a born again Christian.

There are many misconceptions about Justin's father floating about, pushing that he was a deadbeat father and only comes around because his son is famous. Mallette describes her on and off relationship with Jeremy as 'toxic' in her book.

Bieber refutes these claims, saying that his father isn't a deadbeat, he was not mature enough to be a father when Justin was born. The two did see each other for most of his childhood, and they remain very close today. Just look at how young Jeremy is in the picture Justin posted on Instagram.

Bieber didn't talk to his mom for two years. But it may not be for the reason you'd think. There was no huge argument, nothing to discuss.

Justin tells Billboard,

“I was distant because I was ashamed. I never wanted my mom to be disappointed in me and I knew she was,” Bieber said..

He goes on, “We spent some time not talking, so it takes time to rebuild that trust … it’s hard, but getting better. She’s an amazing woman and I love her.”
