Normani Tells Critiques To 'Shut The F—k Up' After Comments About Her Not Releasing An Album

Former Fifth Harmony member Normani Kordei Hamilton, known as Normani, recently clapped back at her fans for their comments about her music career. Since promising her album not long after the band dispersed, she is yet to release it.

The artist has, however, released several singles with a number of artists like Calvin Harris, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, and Chris Brown. Normani previously explained that her apprehension about releasing an album was because she was used to being hidden in a band.

The 26-year-old became the topic of Twitter users when a fan who was tired of waiting for the album made some unflattering comments. In response, Normani asked the fan to shut up and said she was dealing with a lot.

Normani had some words for fans who came for her on social media for not releasing music anymore. The artist recently went under the scrutiny of the public on Tuesday when several Twitter users brought up a conversation concerning her lack of an album after releasing "Motivation" in 2019.

Some of the comments (via Billboard) included, "No idea where Normani's motivation (no pun intended) has gone, but I just [don't] see the same passion from her as I used to. Before [y'all] start, [it's] not depression so [don't] even go THERE!"

Another Twitter user posted a similarly critiquing comment under the tweet that read, "What happens when you've gotten comfortable, and you're not HUNGRY anymore."

The critiquing tweets got the singer's attention, who simply asked them to "just shut the f--k up." Her aggressive response to the comments brought in even more opposition as remarks from other Twitter users trooped in.

Despite the opposition, several users came to the aid of Normani, one of which was Hayden Williams. The fashion illustrator shed some light on what the 26-year-old might be going through, explaining that the naysayers had no idea what was happening behind the scenes.

Williams tweeted, "It's so interesting that people that have no clue what it's like to be in the music industry & the complexities that can come with that but will dish out unwanted & rude opinions all the time smh."

The former Fifth Harmony singer concurred with the fashion illustrator's post, revealing that her challenges were "on top of real-life s--t going on in my personal life." She didn't go as far as to elaborate on what those issues were, but her followers said they supported her and hoped she would be fine.

Williams also said, "Just know you have so much genuine love & support no matter what." Some other fans, however, asked that the artist be more transparent for people not to speculate when no news is forthcoming.

Since the girl group Fifth Harmony disbanded in 2018, Normani opened up concerning how she struggled as a part of the group. "So many sessions, I would cry like I've never cried before," she recalled. The 26-year-old also talked about how the outcome of her career, especially as a black woman, weighed on her.

Not long after leaving the girl group, Normani revealed that she already had plans lined up for the anticipated album. However, despite the number of singles she released, the promised debut album is yet to be seen.

The artist was previously part of "Diamonds," a song on the "Birds of Prey" soundtrack with Megan Thee Stallion. She released "Wild Side" with Cardi B, and in March, "Fair" was dropped. Normani also released "WE (Warm Embrace)" in June with Chris Brown and was a part of Calvin Harris' "Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2" album on "New to You" along with Offset and Tinashe.

In a 2019 interview with Billboard, the 24-year-old explained that she felt some pressure putting out her album because she was no longer in a group. She said, "People underestimate how hard it is and how much effort we put into one project, one body of work. And coming out of a girl group, there was a lot that I had to figure out about myself and fears that I had to deal with head-on."
