Over the last couple of years, the pop artist, Demi Lovato, has not shied away from talking about her sexuality. In fact, in March 2018, the singer told Billboard, “I’m very fluid. I think love is love.” However, during a recent interview with Apple Music, which was designated as a ‘nothing-off-limits’ conversation, Lovato went into the topic of her sexuality to a depth that had not been seen before with the pop star. While the questions weren’t off-limits, Lovato didn’t hold back anything, either.

With the new decade upon us, Lovato is dead set on setting some lofty goals for herself with the coming years. The two main goals that she shared were to continue to form partnerships with people, as well as, start a family. Although, who, or what gender, those relationships or family would be with was not something that she could determine at the moment. “When I think about what makes me happy today, I think about my family. I think about my friends. I think about my team,” the ‘Confident’ singer revealed.
After a brief pause, Lovato elaborated on her thoughts regarding building relationships and a family stating, “Meaningful relationships, exactly. And I don’t know what that looks like. I don’t even know if I see it with a man or a woman, but I just know that at some point I would love to do that this decade.”
For Demi, it’s never been an easy road. She shied away from places like church growing up because she didn’t feel welcomed. “I didn’t feel welcome,” she explained. “I was also, like, questioning my sexuality.” Fortunately for her, she found a place where she could be accepted. “[I] just found a place out here in LA that accepts me for who I am no matter who I love, and there’s no judgment,” she said relievingly.
After sharing with Billboard in 2018 that she was fluid and believed ‘love is love’, she went on to say that love could be found in every walk of life and every gender. “You can find it in any gender. I like the freedom of being able to flirt with whoever I want.”
And while this wasn’t exactly a coming-out party for Lovato, after that interview, she has been more open about commenting on her sexuality and her romantic pursuits. Not too long ago, she dated the Bachelorette star, Mike Johnson, which she was vocal about. However, the relationship would not last very long, as the couple broke up only several months after announcing being together.
Based on the interview with Apple Music, though, it seems that Lovato is keen on starting out the decade on a clean slate, with tangible goals of building new and fun relationships with all types of people, as well as, a family.
Lovato’s next big time in the spotlight is steadily approaching as she’s been tapped to sing the national anthem at the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami come February. We’re looking forward to what the new decade has to offer Demi and all that she wants to accomplish.
