Did Lena Waithe Cheat On Her Wife Alana Mayo?

It's only been two months since we found out that Lena Waithe and partner Alana Mayo had tied the knot. Waithe broke the news on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in November of 2019, stating that the marriage was a spontaneous decision and that the two decided to get married at a courthouse in San Francisco. “We snuck and did it, you know. We didn’t really make any announcements or a big … you know,” Waithe said. However, now it's been confirmed that the two will be separating.

Waithe and Mayo had been dating three years prior to Waithe's marriage proposal back in 2017. Although everything appeared to be fine between the two, the sudden decision to get married is rumored to have been a form of reconciliation on Waithe's part for cheating on Mayo. That way, Mayo has a more permanent commitment and Waithe can prove her love, right? Wrong. Blogger Love B Scott says Mayo was getting tired of Waithe's infidelity and the marriage was only to cover that up.

Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that it's already rumored that Waithe has moved on is now dating actress Cynthia Erivo. It's a little hard to believe that Waithe hasn't been sneaking around considering how quickly she was able to move on.

Erivo and Waithe met back in 2018 and apparently clicked right away. However, now the close friendship has apparently blossomed into something more romantic. They did appear to be extra cozy and comfortable at this year's Golden Globes.

The "Queen and Slim" director has always been close to Erivo and it seems like they really hit it off from the first moment they met. “I live for you! So glad our paths finally crossed, sis! Thanks for being the highlight of my night xoxo," Waithe wrote in response to Erivo's gushing Instagram post about finally meeting her. Both Waithe and Erivo continued to speak highly of one another to the media. All of this certainly makes it seem like the two may have started to develop more than platonic feelings for one another.

Apparently Waithe and Erivo have already moved in together, according to Bossip. Neither has confirmed this information but if this is true, the couple seems to be moving quite fast in their relationship. What is confirmed, however, is that Waithe and Mayo are done for good. “After careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways,” the two said in a joint statement. “We have nothing but support for one another and ask that you respect our privacy during this time.”
